Has anyone ran the gates G-force 38g4494 on their 1100t with any success? I need to buy a couple back up belts this year and at $54 each that's allot easier to swallow than the $150- $180 for the cat belts. I see a bunch of older threads on hcs but nothing recent.

No experience with the Gates, but I ran a Dayco XTX for a full season with no ill effects. Just as grippy as the Cat belt, and about half the price. I believe the number is a 5035 - check your local dealer.

I had the dayco on my sled with the big chute kit for a full season along with the full tcl kit and it's still on there. It is a lot harder of a belt but it works

Intresting- would like to know more... as the stocker lasted me pretty long have everything but the TCL bracket. Ran the EVO belt last winter - but need to look for options for whats that worth-everything is inline.
So is the dayco slap on and go or do we need to shim the primary for tolerences?

I went and bought the clutch tool from arctic cat to Aline the clutches and got it close to factory and slapped it on and have not looked back. I was running cat belts and they would last 250 miles and would blow and the Carly belts would blow right away to. The only crappy thing about the dayco belt is that it is hard and u will lose a couple hundred rpm in the top end but I can live with that.

We are making a new belt for 1100T for the 2014-2015 season. It will be made by MBL and made from the 8DN Yamaha compound. It will be dimensionally similar to the belt we made last year (longer than stock)

Alignment and proper belt deflection is KEY to longer belt life.

DPG

...or in the case of the 1100, correct parallelism in both axis. Serial belt blowers have no trouble killing belts with perfect alignment and deflection, it's the parallel between the two clutches that is off.....hence the tcl delete and adjustable motor mounts that work so well.

I hope you make them at least as wide as stock. Last years belt of yours I bought, was 5 thou narrower:face-icon-small-fro but it did last 400 miles.
As for using Yamaha compounds on your next batch of belts...... talk to the Nytro turbo'd guys, their belts aren't lasting either.:face-icon-small-con

Get that backwards? Harder belts usually gain you RPM. Drop rpm with sticky belts.

To the original poster. You can also try the 38C also instead of the G. A little more money but it's the Carbon belt that might hold up better. I have a new one if you want one cheap.

Well then how does the hard 084 belt run a couple hundred lower rpm's than the more sticky 083 belt?

Really? Your complaining about 5 thou on a drive belt? Most non critical manufacturing tolerance are alot higher than that! One ride could easily burn that much or more off the width of your belt!

If it was .050" instead of .005" I could see your gripe...

thanks for showing me the typo.....it was .015 thou narrower. I guess the real gripe was the purchase price and the cost of shipping and only getting 425 miles out of it...... Do the math

I honestly don't know anyone that changed belts, any kind of belt, and had no more belt issues......unless everything was good for parallel and alignment but it just needed to be longer.

I always ask people why they are trying a new belt and for obvious reasons most are having a problem with the current one. Most haven't done any measuring of their current set up and are "hoping" a different belt will be their fix. Unfortunately that is rarely the case but seeing as most ctc are long on 1100's the Evo belt usually did get more miles than stock....as did some other belts that were longer. The Evo belt was also $30-$40 less than a stocker is and made with similar ingredients. Shipping can never be avoided in most cases.

We know now that the ultimate fix is addressing parallel problems in various different ways and making sure the clutches themselves are not part of the problem. 15 thou wont't be the difference in a belt going 1000 miles or 200 on an 1100t with known belt problems.

When will this new (14' - 15') evo belt be available for purchase? I see the old belt is no longer on the web site.

I haven't blown a belt yet. Got around 1000 miles on all my stock belts. thought id try something else. Thought Id get at lease 1000 miles out of the EVO belt. Didn't blow it either, it just wore out way sooner than expected. It had a way smoother engagement and "take`off" and I think they on to something. Just needed more testing before marketing is all. The thinner the belt the less miles you will get out of it. Stands to reason don't you think?
