timbersled vrs yeti

Obviously they are lighter. It would be nice to hear details and not "night and day" " the yeti runs circles around the TS" and stuff like that. Obviously Yeti did a great job refining things but I'd like to hear some detail on exactely how it felt different.

I'm most interested in the ski performance since I can easily afford the Yeti ski. Once again "night and day difference" doesn't tell me much. Does it create a smoother steering feeling? That would make a difference for me.

It seems that all Yeti reviews have to be a Timbersled bashing. It would be nice for someone to start a review by admitting that TS has an awesome product and then continue on about where yeti has made improvements. Would add some credibility to the review.

The Yeti guys are saying that they blow Timbersled out of the water...

My Timbersled dealer bought a yeti kit to compare, and said that the yeti couldn't come close to keeping up with the 2016 Timbersleds...

I'm going to venture a guess that the truth falls somewhere in between these two statements ^

I, along with most everyone on here, would like to see some good video footage of the yeti in action, including a comparisson of TS vs Yeti with comparable bikes/track sizes.

Like I said I have no doubts the Yeti performs well.... Just look at it. And then the second you ask for a non over the top review you get called a "TS fanboy"..... Whatever that means.

I have heard some more modest reviews as well but Some of the wording used you would think they actually fly.

I want to buy their ski. I just need to hear a few more opinions and details from someone that doesn't sound like a car salesman.

And for someone to say the TS is way better sounds ridiculous too.

I had a 13 LT. now have a 129 yeti. got some 360 degree vids on youtube if you search kx500 yeti.

The TS did a pretty good job of everything and i certainly think they have improved since '13.

The yeti, from my frame of reference seems better.

- the machine handles much better with the fuel can farther forward. almost dont know its there. much more nimble thru the whoops and the ski feels the same. If TS figured out how to get their cans farther forward they would do the same thing.

- i find that the ski doesn't wash out. on my TS i would lose the front end a few times every ride.

- it seems like i get much more power to the ground. can shoot straight up things now and keep up with 800 sleds no prob. i have more power this year too so i would say thats a 50/50 split to the chassis and my engine work

- the drivetrain looks much stronger. splines on the shafts instead of keyways, the cam that tightens the chain etc

- it handles better thru the whoops. doesnt feel like the rear swingarm is 4 feet behind you anymore. maybe that was partially due to my TS shocks having some miles on them as well.

-small things like the slick wheel kit, the really functional bumper and such are nice touches. you just have to look at something as simple as the brake line guard to see there was a lot of thought put into this setup

One thing where Yeti hit the nail right on the head is the closed tunnel -- that alone is worth the admission.
The hole soggy bottom boys deal really blows sure -- glad that they addressed that with a closed tunnel. How is that working out for team Yeti , never rode one myself.

????

There a number of things that Yeti is raising the bar on. Some may think its minor but in a way a huge improvement compared to the competitors:

Belt drive
Ski
Closed tunnel
Bumper
Cooler
Fuel Can
Brake
Tunnel Stiffness
Wheel kit

For a first year offering Yeti has really stepped up the technology in Snowbiking !

totally forgot about that one. first year ever where i have been dry all day, and no snow coming down your neck

Jamie. Ship me a Yet 120. I have a 16' ST TSS and will gladly do a report for this topic. ;-)
I even have a bike to put it on so I could have two bikes to ride at the same time! ha ha

Just a little feedback from a Mechanic friend of mine that build up many snowbikes of both brands Yeti and TS .
2 customers who regularly ride together 1 Yeti and a TS with TSS same track length.
The TS YZ450 has a full mod motor Head Cams exhaust etc the Yeti is on a stock YZ 450 Both run dead even from a performance standpoint. Not sure how much the power difference is between the 2 bikes, looks like enough to offset the extra weight but I doubt that there is a huge difference in efficiency. The Yeti will get the same engine upgrades in the next few weeks be interesting to see how much that will change the performance.

Got some testing in today. The Yeti ski is much much better than the TS i had last year. Its not even in the same league. Holds the trail amazing. You can rail around corners and not worry about it washing out. In the powder it gets on top and works very well. Sleds on the trail cant even keep up. That unnerving feeling you get on the TS ski is gone. Well done ! I had so much fun on the trail up and down today !

The yeti in general works very well. It just gets power to the ground. I sure noticed how it stays flat in a climb as compared to last year where the back end digs down and the front got higher and higher until stuck.

The Yeti soaks up the bumps on the trail well. Im not a big Fox Float fan and hope to have Raptors in the near future !

The closed tunnel really keeps the filter clean and keeps u drier because snow isnt thrown up and all over u.

I have to say im impressed with the Yeti. Jaimie and Kevin have done a great job with their first year offering. They look after their customers and are awesome to talk about issues and ideas with.

I highly suggest a ski minimum to replace the TS ski. It will make a world of difference !
