You didn't say which MTX but in the Nytro, it is definitely better than the stock rear skid. It is 38 pounds lighter than stock and performs much better too. Weight transfer is much improved and IMO floatation is better too. I think that it is necessary to lighten up the front end of the sled too when installing this suspension to help maintain balance though. Losing 38 pounds from the rear makes an already nose heavy sled worse. I compensted for this by adding a Timbersled Barkbuster up front and swapping to a light weight battery and also lost a couple pounds by going with Sly Dog Powderhound skis. Pretty good balance now.
