Timbersled Problem to Watchout For! Pic

On my last ride, while heading home I notice the bike was steering kinda weird. When I got home and had a chance to let it melt out. I found the problem. My front shock shaft had unscrewed from lower shock mount. I lost my spring and spring keeper. After further inspection it looked like only half of the shock rod had been screwed into lower mount.(clean threads 1/2 way) I eyeball and maintain my bike before and after every ride. This not something that is easy to spot coming undone. I got lucky that I didn't punch the shock shaft through the track. I'm not sure how this the rod could unscrew? the lower mount has no way of turning. Sad part is I had a big ride planned for this weekend and I not sure if I can get a new spring in time. I will call Timbersled tomorrow and post what they say about this problem and how to prevent it.

I've seen the exact same thing happen with a Fox shock on my buddy's Ezride sled skid. Had to buy a new shock as it got damaged beyond repair before we spotted it.

Had it happen on an EZ-Ryde also, stabbed the track and went through the tunnel and into the fuel tank. Not to mention the over the bars launch.

Timbersled stands behind their product!

Just got off the phone with Brett at Timbersled. He was one of the most professional and helpful person I have ever talked to. He said they have never seen or heard of this happening. The shocks are preassembled at Fox and that part of the shock is not put together by Timbersled. He is going over and beyond to get me back riding. I can't say enough as to how impressed I am with this company. They stand behind their products!

Good Job Timbersled!

Its sad that a company stepping up like that is news! Allen/Timbersled is a class act all day!!

The problem that you are referring to on the EZride is not from a faulty shock but is from the design problem the skids had a few years ago. They only have one arm in the skid and had problems with loose arm bushing creating a lot of side to side movement in the front half of the rails. This causes the front shock to side load and would brake the shock eye off or work it loose. I am sure they have that problem fix now. I do not want guys to think Fox shock are bad because they are one of the most quality shocks with great technology in them. If there is any future problem with them they will be taken care of.

When the owner replies back to you in less than a hour about a problem after 10 pm. I'm very impressed.(maybe even news worthy) If you want to know what the other side of the coin feels like own a Polaris Dragon!
You are correct one class act!:face-icon-small-hap

Mine did that last year on my kit. Lucky I caught it and just lost the bottom uluminum piece. On a side note pull that rubber bump stop out and throw it away. Last year some were loosing the shock seal because it was getting jammed into the seal on big hits. This years shocks don't have that. You should by a lottery ticket as I have just heard of a few unscrewing....they just forgot the locktite. And yes timbersled s crew is first rate.

Not trying to lead anyone astray just saying what we saw. My bad.

I also have seen the front shock come apart on the sleazy ride . I would imagine this failure is vibration or load related in both cases. Just sayin. Fox zero pro shock is a tried and trued and hard to beat piece of gear.
