THUNDERSTRUCK 14 Teaser

I couldn't even finish the teaser. It's obvious which riders belong in a sled film and which are friends with the producer. People with more money than talent falling off on obstacles most people wouldn't even consider filming is only funny for about thirty seconds.

Well it didn't take long for one of our old haters to pipe up. How dare you judge these riders and say the Thunderstruck riders have "more money than talent"....?? You are truly ignorant for saying this. 1. Because we already know you don't like Thunderstruck and 2. Because it's 100% FALSE. (Sometimes opinions can be based on false beliefs and this is a perfect example). Just to clarify, MANY of our riders scrape all summer long just to go on one or 2 trips during the winter. Yep, some of us have good jobs too. But they all ride their butts off trying to entertain the snowmobiling world in new and exciting footage and then they get beat up in public forums by jerks like you. If you don't like me, that's fine. I learned long ago that haters like you chirp... But for you to even IMPLY that the people in this teaser have no talent is a keyboard jockey wishing and being jealous and hoping someone comes and changes his diaper soon...

Put your "talent" where your keyboard is icr.... Follow Shad over a jump or Randy up a chute or Julio anywhere.... (All these would be VERY funny to see) Invite is now in your court.

Jim, Thunderstruck producer and Hater-Defender

And now for my politically correct response:

Timbre, thanks for posting this! And thanks WingNut for the nice comment. And icr, I am so sorry that this teaser was substandard for you (as everything Thunderstruck has done the last few years has been). I realize it must have been an agonizing 30 seconds for you but I do appreciate you trying to make an effort to watch it. We have friends in the industry who make other films that might be more to your liking. Boondockers, Slednecks, 509 and Schooled all produce sled videos too. Maybe you can tolerate them without judgement or bullying. If you have any advice for these talentless riders please let me know and I will be happy to pass it along to them. Have a great day!

Jim, producer of Thunderstruck

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the suggestion on other titles, I do enjoy many of those films. I haven't watched the schooled series yet but I've heard good reviews from others as well so I'll try to get to it in addition to the others.

How dare I judge your riders or film? How dare anyone judge a Polaris snowmobile? Or a skidoo? Or say this weather sucks? It's a forum, everything is open to comment, you won't like all the comments but that's life.

I didn't say all the riders had more money than talent, or that there no talented riders, simply that some were clearly not in the film based on ability.

You seem to have found a comment in my post comparing my own abilities to those of riders in your film, I never made that comparison so I'll ignore the rest of your post.

Sorry for getting your blood pressure up.

I did get a laugh out of your anti bullying message though, thanks.

ICR-

Just so I understand, because it's a public forum, you can say whatever you want, criticize, insult, and simply belittle someones hard work and effort? You're not comparing yourself to riders in the teaser you just felt the need to criticize them.

What ever happened to "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all"?

I thought the teaser was awesome as always.

Jim, it looks like you did a great job this season with a variety of types of riding (e.g. snow bike) and it sure is coming at a great time to give us our fix. I think the time of year may have a lot to do with some having an up-tight attitude. If it was December and there was snow on the ground, everyone would be as cool as a cucumber.

Everybody has to at least appreciate the work it took to film all this and bring it to life. We don't have enough choices for current sledding videos and the last thing we want is another mainstay to dwindle away.

I like the music too.

Keep up the good work.

Chris

I actually found ts13 to be really good. Hopefully 14 keeps it up.

Signed a former thunderstruck hater.

Simply put................
You can PLEASE some of the people sometime,
BUT YOU CAN'T PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so glad that its getting closer to our season, very refreshing to watch. I needed that

haters gunna hate don't jump on the band wagon. you've had 13 best sellers you must be ding something right!

ICR, did you actually watch the TS 14 teaser? I feel like you may have been misdirected to another website, or maybe your computer crashed. I got to see much of this teaser first hand, before it became a teaser, and the screen never does the actual riding justice. The jumps these guys were hitting, and chutes they were climbing were absolutely INSANE to see in real life, and don't get me wrong, I ride with very talented riders every day. They all had serious consequences if not done with precision and skill. As far as the money thing, I can only speak for myself, but I ride with these guys, and many others all winter, and go dead broke doing it. None of us are riding on hand outs, and we all spend every last dime doing what we love. If you've ever tried using a computer program like Final Cut, you might be more appreciative of what Jim Phelan did to put this together. I know I was stoked to see it come to life, and can't wait to see the film! :)

...wouldn't it be nice if we could all praise the work of those that are getting out there and putting down the effort to help advocate for our sport in stead of behaving like a bunch of adolescents?

I know, if you have energy to spare, there are organizations that are begging for volunteers to protect our access. I'd be happy to hook you up with any one of a number of them, if you really want to put your money where your mouth is, because in the end, it's not the talent of a rider that's going to save our sport, it's the ability to decry with a unified voice, that these are our lands, and it's our right to access them.

But, in the mean time, I don't appreciate your belittling of your sled brethren because of their success or whatever else has aggravated you.

Snowmobilers are a group that gets along and helps each other. Are you the person that stops and helps the man with a flat tire, or the person that drives by and berates him for blocking the road.

Jim and Team Thunderstruck have donated countless hours and thousands of dollars to protect access. I'd invite you to do the same, ICR, instead of making an embarrassment of yourself.

Its funny how something like putting together a movie or in this case a trailer for a movie looks so simple when its done right. Things just seem to click. Hey all you need to do is go out one day with your buddy's and shoot some footage and go home download it and your done right? when we go ride we all break down our day cleanly into 2 to 4 minute segments right?

People take pot shots at franchises like thunderstruck because they know they will get countless amount of people to come on here and try to disprove what was said. I am not sure if ICR really believes what he said or not. It really doesn't matter to me but I would be willing to bet that what he said got the reaction he was fully expecting and the game continues.

Everyone that knows anything about action sports films knows that there are filler segments (I am sure there is a more technical term for them but i am not an film editor) used to make transitions between the really good footage that make up the body of the movie. I would be willing to bet that some if not all the footage that ICR is referring to would be considered filler segments. What these segments actually contain is obviously at the discretion of the film editor and how he wants to steer the viewers attention. Some are more successful then others. but they can certainly make or break how a movie flows. Thunderstruck films have always been very successful in that department.

Man some of you guys are acting like I boo'd at your kids school play. When you're done reprimanding me why don't you hop on Amazon or eBay and belittle anyone who left a negative review of a product. Tell them they're talentless and couldn't do any better and the manufacturer did their best.

God forbid one of your friends get a meal they don't like at restaurant and even hint at ordering something else next time, otherwise I'm sure you'll berate them that they can't cook and don't appreciate the effort the chef put in and they should keep their mouth shut if they have nothing nice to say.

Marleneesteven, thanks for the speech, please repeat it to bholmlate in those threads when you're done thanking him in this one. I donate my time at a local level to fight closures to motorized use (specifically the chugach forest plan revision which is going on now) and my charitable contributions go to causes where my time would be less valuable, like the Alzheimer's association.

Glad this was brought up mid summer cause this heat sucks. Several very good comments with pros and cons towards all of our passion. Its a fantastic group and one I love to share with all who give a little back. As one of the Vets of this series, it is always nice to hear the opinions of all riders. Jim has certainly recruited well and has a nice young crop of "next generation" ;) guys coming along.....makes my mouth drop at the style they bring to the series. Can't hurt to show that the Team brings another style to the screen for all to enjoy.
As I previously mentioned I am one of the guys who has been around a while and have my fair share of Helicopter ending seasons where it cost me more than I wanted to park the sled for repairs. Usually 5-6k each year after something goes wrong. yuck.
I also like to ride with TS for many reasons but the biggie for me is to use it as a vehicle to assist Avalanche Canada, Revelstoke Search and Rescue, Revelstoke Food Bank and the Revelstoke snowmobile club. We hold a Premiere and fundraising night each US Thanksgiving the past 6-8 years and have raised 60k plus for these organizations. All supported by riders like yourself who come out to support.

ICR.....thanks for getting involved with your local initiatives. It all helps
I hope everyone enjoys the hard work each rider puts in and the amazing footy Jim and his guest filmers like Steven capture. They make it artsy in a way that is just greek to me.

Safe sledding all
RS
