Thumb throttle

Coming off sleds and not used to bikes the twist throttle seems like it wants to kill me. Anyone swap throttle to thumb style? If so better / worse? Liking the nimbleness of the bike but old dog and new tricks can be a bit dodgy.....

I have a buddy that had his wrist fused because of broken bones, he runs a thumb throttle ...... ridding his bike is very odd and distracting for me but he likes it just fine.

I've also got a buddy who runs a thumb throttle on his dirtbike. He claims superior control in technical situations. I rode his bike in the dunes and it was strange to get used to but I didn't hate it. A tether would be a must.

I grew up riding sleds and raced quads for about 12 years before I added a dirt bike to the stable. Have had a thumb throttle on both bikes I've had. Way more control for me since that's what I'm used to. First one was a carb'ed 2008 KTM 450SX...same FCR carb as my KTM quads so a spare throttle cable and housing I had laying around bolted right up. Current bike is a 2017 Husky FX450. Use a 04-05 Honda TRX 450R throttle housing (no TSS) and had motion pro make me a custom cable for $75. Just had to sign a release for Motion Pro that they sent me saying I was modifying the throttle system and released them from liability.
