any body have an idea what this should be. the spec. sheet says 500ohms. i get 1840 to 1200 open throttle...any thoughts? this is the last thing i can check otherwise i am sending out tht stator to get rebuilt.

Gotta know what sled it is. What kind of problems are you having with it? You usually read the tps settings in volts.

digger,
it is a 03 cat 1m 800 efi...i ohm tested every other thing on it before i pullud the stator off. i thought it was the iginition timing sensor, because it did not ohm out to the spec sheet i had. bought a new one and it ohmed the same around 100 to 104. talked to adealer and they said that the spec charts are not right.(what good are they then) the sled has a bog/miss fire that is a back fire. ( at night i can see the backfire out the pipe)if i roll the throttle on i can hold it at the point of the miss fire. 6500 rpm it back fires, if i can hold it in the same spot it will keeppdoing it. if i just stab the throttle it does not hiccup at all.. i have went through all the wiring looking for cracks or bare wires and replaced some wires that were bad. oh and the spec sheet that i have only give the reading in ohms, that sheet reads 500 ohms...i have been messing with this for two weeks now and my last thought was to get the stator rebuilt.

I guess I have never heard of checking a tps with an ohm meter before. You need to feed it 5 volts and test the voltage coming out. 0.69 - 0.71v at idle position and 3.575 - 3.937v at full throttle. You need a fluke meter and the wire harness with the 5 volt feed to check them out. It sounds like it could the problem. If you can get a testing harness on it check it with a regular dial volt meter too, you might find a dead spot in the tps. I don't know where you are at in Stearns county but I do know that Chubby has a tester and all the dealers would have one.

iwas told not to take the tps of the throttle bodies but,(need special tool to put back on)if i take them off as a set and take them to a dealer they should be able to test the tps you say??? there is adead spot when you are on the gas at 6500 rpm. and also is 5 volt ac or dc. talked to two dealers and they have never replaced a tps....

You can just take the throttle bodies in with the tps attached and they can test it and set it if it is out of adjustment. It sounds like there could be a bad spot in it. 5 volt dc. If you do a search on here you will find many post on testing these. They can test good at idle and full throttle and still have one spot in their rotation that is shorted .

Can also test it with an ohmmeter, much easier than the TPS tool. An analog (one with a needle) will give you the best indication, make sure that goes across the range without jumps or skips in the swing.

thaanks for the replys, but i amgoing to put it all back together and see what the led reads.....i will let you all know what i find out
