Throttle icing up

Any tricks to keeping your axys/pro throttle from icing up. Both my 14 pro and 16 axys get snow and ice build up to the point where you let go of the throttle and the sled keeps going.
Silicone spray seems to help a bid. I've tried more and less freeplay in my throttle cable. Any ideas?

Ive been battling this since 2011. Dont use handle bar heaters at all in the deep only on the way home. It helps but can still ice up. Keeping them clean is real help though. Whenever you take a break of just stop for a min knock it free of snow.

nearly each time i've rode in deep snow i've had my throttle doing the exact same thing.

no heat does help but not 100% cured

i have been having lots of trouble lately also. im not on an axys but a 14 pro. and my problem is the cable itself is freezing not the block....so a heated block will probably only make problem worse(melts of snow and water runs down inside of cable??)....I installed a new cable couple rides ago hoping I had a frayed wire or something but has not helped one bit

I have had lots of problems also with this, both with stock set up and the RSI heated block. The RSI block works on the flipper itself but not the cable.
It seems to happen when the snow is deep and the tempature is just right.
What I have been able to do is run a lighter along the cable to thaw it, that works but only temporary. When I know the conditions are right for freeze up, on those days I un screw the throttle free play by the handle bars and spray in lock deicer both ways and also tip the sled over on its left side and spray some in the cable at the flipper. I tip it over so gravity helps run it down the cable.
On the days I have done this I havn't had a problem.

Had this issue all day Saturday on my axys with an RSI non heated throttle block in 3' of blower and 5 degrees Fahrenheit. I loosened up the cable a fuzz and chipped the ice away with the secondary sheave spreading tool to keep it from happening as bad.

Run a tether guys. Could save your sled and or your buddies who might be in front of you. I run my throttles forward and it's more of an issue and have always run one. Needed it exactly twice now... Scary!

Had this issue on Sunday. Scary deal. I put my kill switch down under the bars so I wouldn't accidentally hit it. I have since moved it up until I can get a tether on. Burned a belt grabbing brake and trying to get the kill switch hit. Sounds like lube or de icer helps and a tether is a must. Also installing a heater in the trailer so I can heat/vent it after a day of riding. I think this is what happened to mine, condensation from parking the trailer at the house and having it melt but not vent and not melt all the way, then taking it back riding the next day in freezing temps.

Sounds like what happened to me, but I wasn't as lucky. Just like you I moved my kill switch down under the bars, and I don't have a tether. Throttle locked up on the trail. Caught me off guard and I couldn't hold on to hit the kill switch. Long story short, my brand new Axys launched about 70 feet off the trail and now I'm looking for a tunnel. Made me a believer in tethers.

Its crazy to see all these posts, same thing happened to me this past weekend and I couldn't get sled stopped in time. Ran LH spindle smack dab into a tree, took out both a-arms. I think ill invest in a tether too. What brand is that Lock De-icer stuff you guys are talking about?

This is the stuff I have been using, small can and easy to fit in pocket or handle bar bag.

No perticular brand. I just go to the hardware store and get it. Small can about 1" in diameter and 4" or so long. It shoots decider straight out the top and will shoot it a foot or so.

What tether are you all using? Stock polaris one or something else? Seems to be mixed reviews on the pro armor one as well as the factory one

Also, brake handles are getting iced up. 2 friends had this happen and brakes hold on slightly. You can't see the dash brake light when its covered with snow. The one friend lost his Quickdrive belt due to melting from the dragging brake heating up too much.

For years i have played around with corrugated covers but without having a rubber molding factory I have not built anything worth selling.

We need someone with the resources to build something similar to the rubber boots they use on dirt-bike brake/clutch levers.

Interesting to read through these threads, I Demo a 2016 axys 163 today and had a great time on it. But I was have problems with the throttle sticking most of the day and finally it stuck wide open when I was making a turn and it ended up doing a solo ride up hill at pretty good clip
