Where should the free play be set?

I just set it so the butterflys on the throttle bodie were just closed when throttle is closed in there normal state.. a smidge tighter and the butterflys start to open.

Is this were it should be?

Also does adjusting the free play affect tps at all?

Great question! I was wondering the same thing. My sled came from the dealer with a quarter inch plus gap between the throttle block and the flipper... Hopefully someone chimes in with how to adjust everything or if it should go back to the dealer being I haven't even rode it yet.... thanks

My understanding is there is only suppose to be .030 gap between the flipper and the throttle block measured to the front of the cable. That is using a flat blade feeler gauge. The adjustment is made in the cable just down from the throttle block.

The slack is taken up by the handlebars, there is an adjustment under the rubber sheath. Just make sure you do not get it to tight and open the butterflies. Assure that the butterflies are still fully closed against the mechanical stop adjuster on the throttle bodies.

Perfect thats exactly where i put it.. tb butterflys closed and its just touching
the mechanical stop on the TB. This stop has a screw on it you can see well off the flipper it rests agaist it..i believe it adjusts the butterflys that screw

This seems like a risky "adjustment by feel" when the Throttle Position Sensor relies on this input.

When I adjusted my TPS using a DIY Power Supply, and both Analog and Digital Multimeter, a simple fly fart would knock it off scale. The little rotary Potentiometer is freaky sensitive.

Keep an "ear" out for runability issues if attempting this free play adjustment.

Some Thing is MISSING here...

Do you ride straight??????????????????????????

Is your hood installed All wires everything mounted in place...

Make sure to turn the handle bars back and worth when doing so to get a feel for slack..

Slack can change ..... Not Good turn bars sled takes off!!!!!!!!!!

Where should the free play be set? Where it feels the best!! for you.. some guys like a little slack some don't

Is this were it should be? Don't mess with the throttle set screw..

Yes it can .. If it cann't drop to the same voltage every time.... it might thing ur still on the gas.. .. aka turned bars.. u rerouted cable.. such.. too tight aka volts like.. should be .913 not .947 !!!!!!

my 02
Just being a quad and bike guy.. I like a little bit of slack.. make it feel right.. and safe

The throttle set screw is on the throttle body.. correct? I only adjusted the adjuster near the riser... As long as it is not to tight (open butterflys).. it will NOT affect the tps.. am i correct on this?

I also turned tge bars fulley both ways and watched tge butterflys to ensure they did not open...

In summary its safer to run it a little looser vs a lil tighter correct?

YES
In BOLD

What I use is a zip tie and make the gap between the throttle flipper and throttle block the thickness of the zip tie. seem to always work good for me.
