Throttle Cable Adjustment - M7

What is the proper procedure for adjusting the throttle cable. I noticed today that when I fully depress the throttle level I can still push down on the linkage connecting the throttle bodies about a 1/4" to 1/8" so that leads me to believe the butterfly's are not opening all the way.

Good catch. This is a problem with these sleds most people aren't aware of (I keep forgetting, too). I don't know the proper way to adjust. It's difficult to get it adjusted so you get full throttle, without having it so tight it is off idle (which triggers the throttle safety cutout) when you turn the bars.

Hoping someone will chime in with the right way. I just tighten mine 'till I get it and back it off 'till it doesn't cut out when I turn the bars.

If you have too much slack in the cable, the TPS (throttle position sensor) will not open the power valves appropriately. When I got my '05 M7, it ran ok but just didn't have that hard pull on the top end. Had the mechanic come up to the mtns. and we plugged in the computer, sure enough the power valves weren't even opening! We adjusted the throttle cable which in turn brought the tps into sync. Problem solved.
Now several times a year I check the sensor. With the machine off, I smash the thumb throttle, and adjust to where I hear a faint tick of metal opening all the way. If you tighten too much the power valves will open sooner. Some may like that idea, but I like it stock at around 7,200 rpm.
I had a mechanic actually adjust the TPS by taking off the system then plugging into a computer, but the way I check/adjust is the same way the mechanic did it when I first bought the machine.
Hope this helps.

Ok, mine is too tight again, but if I loosen at all, it won't hit full. Anyone know the RIGHT way to adjust for full throttle with enough slack at idle?
