Throttle and idle question

I have a 97 XLT 600 and I have a problem with my sled at idle. I have to leave a tiny bit of preasure on the throttle to have it idle, but the weird thing is not enough to even effect the cable moving. I was researching and I heard about some of the polaris sleds having a throttle safety switch for safety. Could this be my problem somehow?

It could be. If the the throttle cable is too loose it will cause it to die. The switch sense the free play in the cable and thinks that it is stuck and will shut off the electical. The xlts are also very picky about having the carbs sync'd very close to each other. If you don't have a vaccum guage and are not very mechanically inclined, it is money well spent to take it to a shop and have the carbs sync'd. Idles much much and the difference in throttle response it huge. Good luck. Good old motors. They were alot of fun and still are.
