Just thought i would throw up some pictures of my latest project. I wanted a newer chassis than what I had been riding all these years (I believe I have customized out to the point of no more room to grow my old gen1 wedge). So I picked up a rolling IQ chassis, and threw in my old reliable...850cc Ultra triple. a lot of folks think Im crazy for the whole idea, but with the issues going on with different things from all of the big 3 the last few years...plus I have always liked my triples. LOL! Anyways, tell me what you all think.

The engine actually fits rather well, one modification to the bulkhead to clear the water pump and relocate the MAG side engine mounts. The pipes, also not too bad. There will be just a little hood trimming in the very near future, but overall they fit quite well, with actually minimal modification. I also deleted the tilt steering, built a simple bracket there to simplify things. the stock headlight had to go because of the MAG side pipe, it sits just a little too high for the bottom headlight bracket. So I popped out the lens, made some custom little latches, popped it in the hood, and I will figure out how to incorporate a light later on (open to suggestions on that).

Engine:

850cc Polaris Ultra big bore, PSI modblaster pipes, custom chambers, stage 5 porting from PSI, PSI "Big Air" carbs, oil injection delete, custom fuel pump arrangement.

Chassis:

2006 Polaris 600 IQ RMK, 2009 front end update, walker evans shocks all around, tilt steering delete, most all else is stock...for now. Plans are in the works for a scratch built rear suspension for next year, we'll see how that pans out.

If you can find a cheap headlight, I'd suggest doing what Taylor Fisk did for his D6 and just paint it. He painted it black (and another one yellow) and they turned out d.a.f. Just make sure you find quality paint (NAPA sells some awesome ****.)
 
That thought has crossed my mind, but until I decide for sure where I am going to mount a light I'm going to hold off. I was thinking about mounting a small light behind the dashboard and projecting it out of the old lens, either that or some small round ones in the nose cone vents. Not sure yet. Thanks for looking!
 
for the light i would get a set of HD lights that look good (you dont have to use them both) then make a mount that has them set right in the middle of the original lens then cut out a hole and push the light in and put some rivites through and there you go i have done this before easy to take out if you dont want them and they run pretty well at night you can also use a switch to make them turn off during the day and turn on when at night
 
I have done some more work on this machine this fall, i will get some pics up soon. Sadly, its not running yet this year. WPS sent me a defective piston and no one is open till after new years, and weisco doesnt have any on hand either. There goes another month of my season.
 
I was going to post that you are the only one I have ever heard of to get a PSI engine to actually run. Then I read your last post, you would be money ahead to burn the PSI crap and start over. IMO, good luck with your build

Actually the pistons are being replaced because its been 10 years since its last rebuild. Around 8000 miles. Its not a PSI engine, its PSI pipes and porting. The rest of the engine was either built by me or sourced to specialty shops. That being said, i have only ever had one bad PSI engine, and it was one that i got second hand that had been redneck built and moded.

This engine after 10 years of running and total loss of 35 LBS of compression (120 down from 155) was eating 800 dragons for lunch, and not eating pistons while doing it.
