I recently purchased an 09 800 motor online online that was represented as "The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended." When I received the motor I looked through the intake and exhaust ports and all I could see is clean cylinder walls and new piston's. After firing it up and doing a day of heat cycles I pull the valves and see scuffing so I pull the jug and this is what I found .....

I asked the person I bought the motor from for a refund amount that would cover buying a new/reman cylinder, the local speed shop wont even take it for a core because of the crack. This is what the seller's response was "The area you are talking about is not in the compression area therefore it will have no affect on how it runs, performance, or failure." I disagree and guess I will now have to go though paypal to try and get a refund.

If they were new pistons, he knew the crack was there and he sold you a bill of goods. Hang his azz out to dry!

Mag,

X2 Kinda hard to replace pistons without seeing the crack and disclosing it. That is not a rookie oversight after replacing the pistons.
