My GF is on my old 16 t3 800 Etec, died on the trail last weekend. It has 4800 miles, warranty was up at the end of January. Pulled the motor thinking I was going to get away with just doing a top end on it. PTO cylinder started falling apart and cracked the head, I suspect it was running lean do to a vacuum leak. The plan was to get a reman mono head from millennium tech and put a top end in it. This was going to be roughly $1k to rebuild myself, however I checked the runout of the crank and its F-ed like .025. I can see the wobble when I spin the crank on the PTO side. My thought is bent crank as the bearings feel tight. Would like to get it back in operation sooner than later, as we typically ride till June. At this point I'm thinking a reman long block from ski doo. My dealer quoted me $2100 plus core.
Anyone have any experience? Thoughts/opinions on what is the most cost effective route?
I don't think I can rebuild this for much cheaper than $2100. I do not want to use aftermarket parts or do a big bore. Want to have a reliable 800 Etec again
