Thoughts on belts

Looking for some input here, sled is a 14 assault 155 2.4 track, carls clutching, 19T top sprocket, and venting. first Polaris 115 belt went 280 miles, went to the cat 048 belt and loved it! Got 720 miles before it let go. Dealer didn't have the cat belt in stock so I bought the 115 belt, got 182 miles and 6" of top cogs delaminated. All belts were broke in same way, washed, clutches cleaned, and deflection set to track just barely rolling over with engine running and track off ground. What gives!? Why would the almighty polaris belt only last 200 miles and the cat belt over 700....at a loss here

Was deflection adjusted properly? I run the polaris belt and when it goes i switch to the cat 048 belts which are awesome but hav to adjust deflection! I like to set the deflection so i barely start to hear the clutch squeal but i def is a lot harder on belts!

Yes agreed that the deflection has to be changed huge for the cat belt. I feel like it was adjusted properly.... Get it to the point of just squealing a tad at idle and loosen it just a smidge. It will still squeal every once in ahwile after working it hard. Also rpms are good at 8-8150 and track speed is a solid 37-39 mph in deep heavy snow.
Thanks for reply!

Weird ur going through polaris belts but seems like its rippin good with cat belts and ur getting great mileage out of them def would keep running cat belts!!

Snow has been awesome! Yesterday was 2ft of fresh and sunshine first half of day. Day was cut short by the blown poo belt. Yes cat belt is definitely rippin and is what will be going back on

I use the Polaris SPX Alignment tool. I have checked quite a few of these with belt issues. I have yet to find a 2012 or 2013 that I have checked that was within spec. The shim stack up for both the bolt and shaft were off. These sleds were having the same issues as you: less than 200 miles with an 1115 belt. I've replaced motor mounts on units with 1,500 miles.

I am trying to get the rear kick out of the secondary set to as close to zero gap as possible with the SPX tool.

I also think IndyDan and Carl's Cycle are on to something with the recut on the primary to better match the angle of the belt. This really helped with clutch temps in hard, heavy loads in deep snow.

Its been a little bit since ive checked alignment so thats a good thing to check! Thought hadn't even really crossed my mind since the cat belt went so long.
