Now that I have your attention,,,,

This year will be the first year that we will a permit to use the area, but it could be the last,if we don't pick up after ourselves,be responsible and take out your garbage. We will have officials on the hill looking at this very issue and they WILL fine us and cancel this event if we don't pick up after ourselves.

We will have a designated trash area,, we ask that you use it.

I can't tell you how much effort Shawn,Paul and myself have put into this event and it will be a shame if it gets canceled because of an inability to take your garbage out,and pick it up if you see it laying there.

Thank you and be responsible

From your friendly BDSO crew

Shawn
Lincoln
Paul

Not so friendly if we see you throwing your junk on the ground.

Laziness ?

It's the same everywhere you go. What makes people ration that is ok to throw your sheet on the ground? Makes no sense. What group is doing it ? Younger generation ? The drinkers ? ( And yes , I drink , but at home - not on the hill - so don't need to hear how you can handle the 6-pack on the hill ). I guess the question is retorical because it would be hard to narrow it down. Boils down to one thing - RESPECT !

Throw some signage up saying this is the last year due to the trash problem. What about having some volunteers stick around and put in an effort to clean it up? I'm not saying you should have to do this but it's kind of like a club thing. Trash is a issue and if everyone wants it to continue there will be a few dedicated souls that would take the time and clean things up. Well at least you would think so.

Well i can only agree with Linc 100%. there is a ton time put into this event and if all the average person attending has to do is clean up after them selfs. you all pack thing in that are full its less effort to pack it out empty. So lets keep this event running for years to come SO PICK UP YOUR GARBAGE AND PACK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DON'T BE LAZY PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN.

Linc, you guys go through too much time and trouble too have this event riuned by a few. Hoping that everyone will p/u after themselves, this includes broken sled parts!! Perhaps a contest to see who can p/u the most trash, with a prize?

Can I get the name of where this event is at

I am sending some friends and would like to be able to tell them exactly where to go.

Last weekend I went to the Desert 100 and spent about 2 hours cleaning up other peoples garbage. The bathrooms were full of beer can's, really a nasty mess. It blows my mind how people feel that when they go to events like this they act differently then when they are at home. You wouldn't fill your bathroom with garbage can's or litter your yard. Why do it to such an amazing place, and why punish amazing people who volunteer their time and money to put these events on.
And people wonder why we have less and less of these events.

Some peoples children!!!!

I agree with the parts thing too!! We were in Revy a couple weeks ago and some dude on a turbo cat tried the Monster chute but ended up going over backwards and smashing his windshield off. So the dude slides down on his butt to his sled with his windshield in his hand, then throws the windshield beside his sled and gets on the sled and leaves. I don't get it why people would risk sledding areas being shut down over something so simple.

Everybody will be reminded at the bottom to watch their speed and pick up their garbage. We want to have this event show the officials that we can be a responsible group.

Just a marketing thought

lets say some vendor for example "XYZ powersports" were to supply their plastic shopping bags for people to put their trash in.

1. Help keep the hill clean.
2.One more reason people won't have an excuse to pack it out.
3. Great advertising to the very market you target.

My hats off to the first one who steps up:)

You're absolutely right Fabster, the idiot that wont stuff it in their coatpocket or pack is not going to put it in a bag. Then that company that is trying to maintain a good reputation is labeled as a contributor to such recklessness. :(

O.K. I'm back from fantasyland where ALL people pick up after themselves;)

Great idea Chevy,,,,not worth a sh!t;):D,,,however, if you expand that idea and have "XYZ Motor Sports" buy the garbage cans with their logo on it,and put them on the hill at congested areas,then it works...One step further,"XYZ" organizes and collects the cans and garbage,then that would show some official that there is more than one person interested in our sports image.:D:beer;

Anybody want to volunteer on Sunday to do cleanup is more than welcome. We will be in parking lot around 10:00am to head back up to police the area.

I already picked up garbage cans and you can`t miss the beautiful dripping orange BDSO home made logo :D

Great thread and good suggestions, but......I guess I'm dissappointed that you guys are suggesting volunteers to do this job (but I do know what you are saying HardKore). After all the effort we all go through to keep the hills clean and areas open, and the HUGE amount of effort the boys have been through to put such a spectacular and first rate event on, NO ONE SHOULD BE THROWING GARBAGE ON THE HILL so that volunteers have to pick it up. This just gives people an excuse to be lazy. Use the designated garbage cans and associated facilities. If people want this event to continue in the future, sledders need to self police one another. If someone is seen littering, nothing will go farther with the authorities than a group of pissed off sledders yelling at someone (public shaming) to pick up their waste and demonstrate the actions of the few are not representative of the actions of the many (obviously you would ask the person nicely to pick it first b4 yelling :)). A reward for who rats out the most litters (hopefully there will be 0) would be more appropriate and then banning of that individual from future events. If individuals can't keep it clean, they don't get to attend.

Pretty simple idea, I know it will be hard to enforce for future, but if they have 50 people yelling at them (if it came to that), hopefully they will be to embarrased to return or will change their act. I don't think we need to talk about drinking and sledding potential impact with the authorities. If we look like we need the authorities to babysit us in any way, they will shut it down because they won't sit there and look after a bunch of toddlers (Kudo's to Linc self-policing by starting this thread - but not everyone reads this forum). We need to be able to control it by ourselves, otherwise we are not responsible enough to have an event like this.

I would volunteer for "Garbage Rat #1" and "Security to remove litterers" if I was attending :( maybe next year, this weekends sledding trip was already booked or I would already have the truck warming up with the sleds on the trailer. :) All that being said, volunteers might still be needed, so :beer; to those that volunteered! :) Good luck to all! Have a great time!

I would say that is more of the idea behind what I was trying to promote here, Company XYZ gets great market exposure for a much needed item.

16 years ago we sponsored 2 cars at the local NASCAR track and drove the cars ourselves. The recognition we received was not only because of our business name on the cars, rather the fact that us representing our business out there made it more personal and tangible.

This would be an awesome opportunity for someone to enhance the image of our sport and also the image of their company.

How about handing out small trash bags at the fee gate? Box of 500 bags from Costco is cheap and a bag could fit in a pocket.

I'll even supply the box of bags if you'll hand them out.
