This whole Ray Rice deal. Your thoughts?

They've taken a stance...let's see where it goes.

And she's defending him.
That poor girl doesn't understand where she's at. Women get beat up, he's repentant and there's a 'honeymoon" period afterward, so she thinks it's ok. Then the cycle repeats itself over and over...often with tragic results.

Clinically it's called "learned helplessness".

I hope his money isn't clouding her judgement. If they lived a lower middle class life while they eaked out a living...would she still stay?

He will be back in the league just like Micheal Vick. Money will gain you freedom and different rules nearly every time. Is it messed up? Yep! Do I consider her a victim? Only a victim of herself. She's still with him and still supporting him. Lets all assume that she too just saw yesterday her getting knocked the F out by the man you loves her. Very doubtful she remembered how it truly went down that night after being unconscious! If you're too damn stupid to use the laws that this country has in place to protect yourself and your family than you are only a victim of your own stupidity. I give it 5 months and he's volunteering in a woman's shelter, donates a chit load of money to abused women shelters, pays off some high ranking counselor to say hes healed and he's back on the field mid next year...... Just like Vick.......

Here's the real question. ...

Why aren't white people rioting the streets Baltimore to show their "support" for Mrs. Rice???

I don't know. She spit on him and hit him first according to the latest video. Not sure what she expected. Roid rage and arrogance don't take that well no matter who you are. Rather a two way messed up street here.

I say retroactively remove Ray Lewis from history. And take his money. I mean he did help murder 2 people...:face-icon-small-con

I am in no way saying that what Rice did was acceptable in any way.

Why is there all of this rage over the incident though of a assault, but not over his ex-teammate who was involved in the murder of 2 people and then took a plea deal(Ray Lewis)? There was no punishment from the NFL, other than a fine.

Josh Brent of the Cowboys killed his teammate in a DWI accident and was convicted of it. There was no punishment from the NFL.

In 98' Leonard Little killed a women in a DWI accident. He received probation from the courts, but only 8 game suspension.

Why does Rice receive a 2 game suspension, and then suspended indefinitely for a "simple" assault charge?

At the most the NFL should suspend Rice 6 games, as this was his first Domestic Violence incident, and that is the new rule in the NFL(even though the rule came after the offense).

Athletes tend to be idiots. I only watch CFL because at least they are paid less to be idiots

I think the nfl is gonna make an example outta rice. Like it or not he ain't coming back to play football! Maybe MMA? Give rousey a shot at him! I was surprised how many folks were wearing his jersey at the game. It's crazy that anyone can watch that video and then support that piece of sh$t. I'm not a ravens fan but it was nice to see then play so well despite his absence. I can't imagine anyone needs that kind of drama in the locker room

I would bet that his actions are not extremely rare for a professional athlete of his age.

The reason we are all talking about it is that those actions were caught on film.

My opinion....If his then fiancé & now wife does not wish to press charges, then that is the end of the story. It really is not any of our damned business.

How many people do you know that would lose their means of self support because of a momentary lapse of reason?

I think you are correct in that it's not that rare but almost anyone in the spotlight would get hammered on this one. Almost any athlete, actor or musician that whacked his wife/girlfriend on camera would feel it in their wallet. Look at phelps and woods loss of endorsement money and all they did was smoke pot and enjoy sex!
I think your crazy to say its only their business though. Although she stands by her man... There's a reason when a domestic violence call comes in someone goes to jail. Too often people are scared to talk for fear of more beatings. I would bet money that law has saved a lot of lives!
These guys are fortunate to get over paid to play a game. I know their shelf life as an athlete is short and they need to get paid while they can but these guys are athletes that kids look up to. I'm glad my son doesn't look up to or have any idea who ray rice is. There's probably plenty of parents wiping their as& with their kids #27 jersey tonight!

I see what you're saying.

I guess it just pesses me off that it is getting as much press as it is.
Meanwhile we've had an innocent soldier sitting in a $hithole Mexican prison since spring & our govt refuses to do a single thing to bring him home, but that doesn't get any news coverage.
It is F'd up my friends.
We care more about Beyoncé's puss hair color than we do about the things that actually mean something.

Couldn't agree more! What makes news in this country is really screwed up at times. The only positive I can see is that sometimes when a situation like this arises involving a high profile person it brings a lil more light to the problem at hand.

I don't condone what he did; but banned? Yes punished but not banned.

Hell slick willy got a nobber in the white house, flat out lied to the entire country, committed perjury and nothing happened to him.

If an average Joe assaults his wife...is he fired from his job?

Yes so called celebrity's are supposed to set an example because they are under the spot light; but Charles Barkley has said it best:

Let's stir the pot a little....
So Rice punches his wife with a closed fist rendering her unconscious & he could play tomorrow if anyone would pick him up.
Adrian Peterson spanks his child with a switch & he is done indefinitely.

Let's consider the motivation for these acts.

Peterson was motivated by his desire to teach his son the difference between acceptable & not acceptable behavior, along with the concept that actions have consequences.

Rice was motivated by his desire to terminate his fiance's behavior which was irritating him, (to shut her the hell up).

While we all can weigh in with opinion on how to parent, I would say the streets are filled with wannabe thugs who's life may have turned out more productively had someone used a switch on them in an effort to distinguish right from wrong.

It takes the same type of low life loser to bloody a 4yr old with a stick and punch a women in the face. IMO
