Just read the CAIC report - sounds like a couple of the guys had avy bags but didn't deploy them, a couple had avylungs but didn't use them. This is what concerns me about my BCA Throttle bag and the handle being in a zippered pocket. If you don't remember to take that handle out before you get into avy terrain you are not going to have time to get to it. I'd really like to know how come these guys couldn't use the gear they were wearing.
Sad, sad news for sure - and scary considering the level of backcountry and avy expertise in the group.
I have disciplined myself to unzip and get the handle out anytime I am entering avy prone terrain.
