This one's even got my deler stumped

So i just got done putin a new top end in my 06 ptek after the t-stat stuck. Fired right up but the checkengine light was flashing. After some head scratching and checking all my wiring connections I decided to take it in and get it on the scope. The code that it's throwing is low voltage to the knock sensor which according to the service manual means your know sensor is bad or your ecm is bad. So since I had a buddies 06 ptek on the trailer we began to swap parts. First the knock sensor, and then the ECM Box's. With his ECM box and Knock sensor my sled is still throwing the code, and my ecm and knock sensor on his sled worked fine. So we swapped all the parts back and have no idea why it is throwing this code. Anyone out there seen this happen before, or have any idea what could be causing this. And why it started doing it after the rebuild??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thnks.

Have you checked the voltage at the knock sensor ???
There is most likely a damaged wire or wires somewhere.

Just a guess, but I read about a knock sensor being triggered by an exhaust spring!! Simple things first, get some red RTV and hit your springs. I may be wrong, but you get what you pay for with free advise:D

inspect wiring

Inspect all your wiring. Based on what you have said changing parts and it works then it must be in the wiring. Look for cut or damaged wires, a missing ground connection or even a contact slightly pushed back out of any of the connectors.

My 06 had some corrosion issues in the wire connections from moisture.
They had to replace the whole wiring harness.
Hope you don't have to do that, if you have no warranty.

Electronics suck!

Could be something as simple as one of the ground wires loose somewhere or like said above, a plug thats corroded or a pin pushed back...

I dont think the spring thing will work, if the knock sensor is picking up harmonics from the springs then his buddys ECM or knock sensor should have picked it up.

You have a resonant frequency in the motor someplace that is the exact frequency (or exactly an octave higher) that is setting off the sensor. Good luck finding it as it sometimes is a real pain. Try a different sensor (or a new one) as they are all just a little different.
