Thinking of switching from 07 m1000 to a 08 rev xp?

I am a big guy thinking of switching from a m1000 162 to a rev xp. Like my sled but wish it was about 100 lbs lighter. Any input on the two would be appreciated. Have rode a xp 2 3 years ago. I forgot what they ride like. I would look for one with a new engine. After the engine has been replaced, are they good to go or is it every 1000 miles they need a rebuild. Thanks

Its been a few years since I rode my friends M1000 163, I thought it rode like a tank compared to my XP. Everyone has different opinions on rebuilds but I think 2500 is the general rule of thumb.

I just came off of a M8 to a 09 XP. I can't rave enough about the XP. I ride standing up and to me the XP chassis is just more correct for my style riding. The M chassis in my opinion is very dated. I'm surprised cat used it until 11. In cats defense the M chassis is very easy to work on and reliable. I'm not bashing cat but just think ski doo was ahead of them in chassis design.

I'll be the counterpoint I suppose. The 1000 with VERY minimal work makes a rev look stupid power wise, and again, very little work makes it even lighter than the XP... but more reliable, more durable...

Both have their upsides, but the XM handles like it's heavier than the 1000 in technical terrain.

If you do want to step up the 1000, shoot me a PM, happy to help, and I don't just mean selling you parts. The 1000 should make the 08 xp look stupid, but the 07 1000 needs some help to perform at 100%, and a LOT of that is simple suspension setup.

There is reason you see XPs,XMs, & Pros riding around and not any 1000s, very few if any new Cats.

The XM & pro didn't even exist in 2007, hell... the XP didn't even exist back then.

Comparing apples to apples, it's a 503 CRATE weight compared to the dubious 2008 dry weight from doo.

Either way, weight comes off very easy & cheap, and power is added even easier.

Now if he was asking if he should change to a current sled, imo, no comparison... do it.

M1000

Thanks for all your input. It's a hard choice. My 1000 pulls like a tractor. I love the power. Just got a mesh hood for it seems to help. But still heavy and do not know if spending the money to lighten it is worth it

I have an 08 Xp and I have 07 m7 and I ride with m1000s. I'm sorry but the Ms are a beast to handle, but I'm a small guy. I watch big guys put the ms to work but I can through the XP around way easer than the M7. There is close to 100lbs difference. If your big and you go with an Xp go with the 163 and you should go with board reinforcers. Oh yea my Xp is 36 in stance. Not bashing Ms I have one good reliable sled just not as good for technical rideing. Way more to be told but I'm in a hurry!

My 08 xp always gets out climbed by my buddies 08 1000 ,when I've riden It don't seem to notice the extra weight but it rides totaly different what did u decide to do
