Thinking of getting 07 M8

Hey guys

Im thinking of getting rid of my 04 800 skidoo summit and getting an 07 m8 with about 2000 miles. Just wondering what the life of those sled were. I know it depends on the rider but general ideas would help. Anyone know of any problems with them. Is 2000 miles a lot on the 800? Does the reverse work well head they were not reliable? Anything specific to look for? Problem areas? Updates?

thanks for any help

I love my 07 M8 with just a few minor mods in my signature. It had 2300 miles on it when i bought it and i have put around 350 miles on it with 0 problems. The reverse works fine, and there are many of these machines with double that mileage and still running strong. Alot of guys did the 08 remapping on the computer but i am not sure if mine has that or not, but mine runns really strong just as good or better than my buddies 09 M8 but he has got quite a few pounds on me.

There have been some people that are not too hip on the 07 but I think that it is a great machine and unless it is totally beat i dont think that you can go too wrong.

Good luck

They work great the motor is bullet proof . Just make sure you dont pay much , since the 10 there are alot of hold overs going cheap. Look for new hold overs and work the seller over based on what you find . I saw an add in a news paper for new 08 162 standard model M1000's for 7600.00 , so just dont pay to much.

If you can get a good deal on it , do it . The first thing i would do to it is toss in some new OEM pistons , a BDX diamond drive light , and a Power Claw . Then you could put another few thousand miles on it and not worry about being towed out.

The 07-08 diamond drive had some issues , you can make them work . It can be done . But the DD lite dumps 12 lbs off of the sled and they dont fail very often .

I have 3300 miles on mine, about 1000 boosted and it's been an awesome sled.

I have about 2500 miles on mine and I love it. I change the oil in the DD two times a year just to be safe. No major issues with mine at all, in fact so far it has never seen a shop! I have to ride in hardpack snow once in a while and it will cause the temperature lite to flash, so I put ice scratchers on and never a problem since then. I plan on pulling the DD out this week to check it over and put new bearings in just to be safe!
