Things to look for on a 2006 summit

I am looking at buying a 2006 summit 800 151x2". about 1300 miles on the sled, everything is still stock besides some handguards. Anything specific i should look for? Going to do a compression test before i pull the trigger just to get a better idea of the engine. What numbers should i be looking to see on a strong engine?(1000 ft elevation here) Any other things i should look out for?

Thanks in advance

There isn't really a whole lot to be worried about with that year. I have one and still love it. Very reliable. If the sled has been cared for should just be normal wear and tear. Only thing on mine is like a lot of people and the y-pipe bolts have come loose before. Good luck and sure you will enjoy.

yep pretty solid sled
if you buy it, be sure to check ur carb boots, change the y-pipe bolts w some fresh ones and install NORD-lock washers

other than that, pull and go dude - MOD as needed!! ;)

not to many things to worry about on this sled. You'll have soar hands at the end of the day from trying to hold the fu(k on. Pull and go!!!:beer;:beer;:beer;

Me and my buddy just did topend rebuilds one at 2700 and one at 2800 miles. Both 06 x's with ring pin failure. Just think ahead before it happens, other then that awesome sled.

I just bought myself a used 2006 summit. I had a friend run a VIN inspection. There were a few recalls on mine - nothing major but I would get them done if the previous owner haven't done it yet. ;) Here is a recall alert for the 2006 sleds

I can hardly wait for snow now.. Good luck summitX.

I only see one recall on this sled for a missing weld on the steering column. Was there more?

Ihave 06 x

My 06X went to 5800 Miles before any issues and it was my fault I was told to ring before pounding it in the mountains and i didnt. I didn,t realize it can take a couple of minutes to climb a hill. In the U.P. of Michigan it is a couple of seconds.The only other thing to look for is, a bend behind the pipe or clutch typical rev collision spots. I was going to replace my 06 but i can,t find a sled that i like better. ENJOY

Exact same amount of miles as when mine went with the exact same problem.
As said other than that i loved that sled. kid rides it now.
