Thiefs Suck!

Worked on the sleds last night and forgot to lock the door to the enclosed trailer. Went out there this afternoon to continue on a few things and noticed the gas cap to my wifes sled laying on the floor. First I thought I might have left it off, but then I remembered that I filled the tank after the last ride and now all the gas was gone. I checked my Apex and sure enough it was empty too:confused:. I looked around the trailer and I'm also missing a 2.5 and 6.0 gallon can from the front of the trailer that were both full. I checked my big 55 gallon drum as well and it was almost empty (wasn't full to start with). So it looks like they got away with at least 50 gallons of fuel. I know it could have been worse, everything else was there... helmets, locators, jackets, tools and thankfully the sleds. I guess this teaches me... the worst part is I pretty sure who did it, I have some neighbor kids that are in trouble all the time.

Sorry... just had to vent.

thieves do suck, and I feel for your loss....but you got lucky. With all the other threads on here about losing trucks/trailers/sleds....I'd count my blessings all they got was fuel.

That really sucks. I feel sorry for anyone who steals my gas besides for in my sled. My jerry can for gas is yellow, and I also keep jerry can filled with diesel that is the typical red, so if someone steals my fuel they are in for a huge suprise :D

Lets go hunting!!! I hate people who steal. My brother this last weekend had his $300 dollar steelhead rod stole up at Kooski. He had is pole, tackle box and his sons pole at the river. He grabbed his fish, son and tackle box and his sons pole then headed back up to the road. He hiked back to the river once he got everthing put away and saw his pole was gone. He was hot!! Folks who steel need to loose an apendage!!

thefts

personally i think we should hide out and shoot em, i had a bunch of cans full of fuel stolen in laramie,wy. alot of guys are talking about leaving dummy cans out for the thieves, with a special mix to cause damage. i have been asking around, so far best i have come up with is to add alot of alcohol to the dummy can, and maybe some valve grinding compound. the alcohol should shell almost any engine, if not the compound will scratch the hell out of cylinder walls with engine failure in no time.

Sucks man, I had someone siphon about 25 gallons of Diesel out of my
truck Christmas Eve while parked on the street at my brothers house in
Meridian.

Extreme - Got the perfect solution

Extreme:

Unload your sleds into the garage...........

Keep the lock off the door of the hauler............

Go and get yourself a 6 gallon gas can and mix up 4-5 gallons of gas with about a pound of brown sugar.

Stir it all up real good...........

Let it sit..............

The theives will be back............

Watch out the window for the neighbors that suddenly seem to be having car trouble:rolleyes::eek::)

Good ideas all... I do consider myself lucky. I've been a little complainant this year about locking the trailer and forgetting to lock the tongue. Not anymore. Could have been a lot worse, could have been the sleds and riding gear... as it was all I lost was 100+ dollars in fuel.

Problem with diesel is you can smell it. Take a 5 gallon can, put in 1 gallon of gas and 4 gallons of water - they'll never know. It'll still smell like gas but the car sure won't run very good!

That sux Scotty! As you said though, you were very lucky indeed!

:) T

I always heard the sugar thing doesn't work. Mix half diesel, half gas. It might blow the head off a gas engine, but it will still smell like gas.

Snopes Story About Sugar and Gas

I had my slip tank drained one night. I working on a project where we needed more diesel than gas so I filled my gas tank with diesel......their car ran well enough to get at least a mile.

to do again I would suggest water in the can....fuel will sit on top of water and smell like gas.

that sucks scotty... thank God the sleds and gear didn't get stolen. Should go over there and take out their knee caps...even if it wasn't them, you'd still feel better imo...
