Turning my Husky 511 TXC into a snowbike. Have talked to a few people about putting a thermostat on it. Some say yes, some say no need. Need more info...thanks.

I think the issue with a lot of the sno bike mods comes after encountering that condition where things don't work.

my original bike setup with yam wr450 seemd ok until that day I rode in cold grainy snow and I almost had to run with the choke on. Cold engine screws up gas atomization which destroys jetting and fuel maps.

So you won't need it every day, but when you hit those heat sucking conditions you'll wish you had made the effort.

Overall your motor will love you with a thermo. That engine was designed to run hot.........cold is your enemy. Engine oil WILL NOT WORK /OIL DETERGENT WILL NOT FUNCTION under 160-180 degrees.......well work as designed. I would bet running cold all the time will decrease engine life.

do all the mods before your first ride and you wont regret it. you will for sure have a much more enjoyable ride if you set it up right from the start...
I feel this stuff is a requirement and should be stated in the instructions for installing the kit. everyone that get a kit keeps asking the same ????????? the guys that know give the answer and most still dont do them anyways!
