Theft in Revy

If you are headed to Canada keep the thought of possible theft on your mind. If you don't you might be the next victim.

I thought Glacier House was safe since it was at the end of the road and the parking lot was well lit. I parked right in the middle of the lot. The next morning my rig was gone with my sled on top and they had taken another trailer with two snowmobiles. That was Thursday night. I found out later that there was a botched attempt at Peaks the prior night. The RCMP said they have already racked up 10 sleds since January.

99-07 F250 & F350's are apparently easy to steal so dont think your factory alarm will deter them.

Revy and Valemont seem to have a rampant problem with theft. Why dont we see that level of theft here in the states or why is it so high there? You would think the towns would want to get rid of this problem?

On the good side the snow was awesome!

Always wanted to ride there, this is the only reason I haven't. Great snow is just not worth the potential loss, and it's tough to ride hard if you've been up all night keeping an eye on your chit. :face-icon-small-sad

We dont see it here because the odds are you may get a piece of lead in the head. I have seen rigs all around us get hit up in squamish one night. We got lucky. Weve ridden Brandy Wine, Pemberton and Revy and its too bad but you have to check your stuff all the time. Its the best riding on the planet but it comes with a cost.:face-icon-small-sad

That's for sure...

Sorry to hear of another victim...unfortunately, this is common in Canada.

The Ford's have been a target up there since well, forever.

Another reason I think it happens up there more is there is so much country up there these meth heads can take $hit to and never be found. Then they will strip them down (Ford engines, transmissions and differentials are worth big moneyin the used market due to their replacement value being so expensive) or they end up in a container ship bound for South America or Europe. This is the trucks.

Sleds are stripped down and sold on places like Ebay and guess where else?

Down here thieves haven't figured this little game out yet, I don't believe. Another thing is we have about 10,000% higher rate of Staters waiting to collect revenue compared to RCMP's. Down here, the chop shops lie in industrial areas. Auburn and Kent have a few run by....guess!!!

I've been hit twice lost 3 sleds in total so far. I was in talking with Dean at Alpine here the other day and he lost seven last season a week after I lost two of mine. We have come to the conclusion that these sleds are not being parted but they are being sold overseas intact( read here Professional ring). I lost two ultra custom rides and his were all custom turbos as well, not 1 part has surfaced from any of these 9 sleds. Somewhere in Russia or where ever some dude is riding my turbo sled and 7 of Deans turbos. Get an alarm on your trailer with GPS minimum, as well as a disabler on your truck especially if you have a Ford. JMO speaking from 2 bad experiences.

Gentleman,

Never ever give up your right to carry a handgun. Those boys in Canada are wishing they could. I have had many good BS sessions on thier soil, I.E the old snocat at the rescue tube. They still remember when they could. The RMCP is toothless. We were 1 block from thier station and everything around us got busted into and this was 5 years ago. Crack rules in Canada I guess. Now I read some of them dont like us anymore(big avy post) Still the best place to ride even if some call us tourists.:usa2:

I doubt it was the meth heads..well sort of that is. A few years ago this was happening also..it was an organized motorcycle club that is very well known in the NW from what i recall. They were taking complete rigs and taking them right into awaiting semi trucks. Chain your chit down and get a disconnect knob for your battery terminal or just pull your main 30A fuse for the ignition.

Isn't there only 3-4 roads out of Revy? How hard would it be to monitor them in the middle of the night when this stuff happens? It's been happening so much for so long it's tough to imagine the law isn't in on it.:face-icon-small-dis JMO-

Interesting that you should say that. In all my trips to Revy from Seattle over the past several years I have NEVER seen a Canadian Police Patrol car on the highway from Abbottsford all the way to Revy! Think about it, have you? Perhaps I should have been looking for them on horseback! :face-icon-small-con

stolen sleds

i went as far as tying fishing line through hotel window to trailer to lamp in room so i could catch them and then i could unleash god help them if they try to get my sh---t i would much rather catch them myself.

this theft issue has been going on so long now the cops are obviously involved in it $$$$$$ corrupt F*ckers

Actually you wouldn't, should you attempt to take the law in your own hands and lose control you will find yourself in jail and be in far worse trouble then the individual stealing your truck and most likely lose your privilege to visit the great country of Canada. Remember the police will protect you!!!!!!

WOW, really, I got a bad rep for this comment, just telling it like it is. Someones a little sensitive about their theft problem in Revy, "I'm not the problem", like I said I'd love to ride there. Apparently at least someone up there doesn't want my money, so be it.

Borders!

Kinda funny that our neighbors to the north and south aren't that much different.
