The ol' RMK vs PRO comparison

Rode my sled (09 700 RMK with 5.25 riser (1.25 over stock), narrow ski stance, snow eliminators, e-start, 300 miles on odo) back to back with my brother's stock 12 800 PRO and was fully impressed with my 09. Extremely similar feel to these sleds. Both are side hilling, carving, boondocking champs. Power of the 700 is all there to boot (I've had clutch weight work and he is stock). The PRO is def a work of art though - so pretty. Only noticable difference was stiffer shock feel on the PRO vs a more mushy feel to the 700; being used to the mush, I have no compliants.

Conclusion: the 700 represents extreme value in the marketplace, just needs a few tweaks, and I can't agree with those finding dramatic difference between these two generations.*

*2013 model not included!

I own a 2012 ProRMK 155. I also own an 08 RMK. The 08 still feels nice every time I get on it. I know the Pro is the real deal but feel the IQ RMK is still on par or better than the other makes made in 2011.

i agree with the OP. last year during demo days the biggest difference i felt between my 07 D7 and the 2011 Pro 800, was the midrange power of the pro, besides that, yes the pro is jaw dropping gorgeous, but i cant justify enough difference right now to spend the extra money... i love my 700 IQ Raw!

I skipped the Iq years. I instead elected to stay on my edge chassis. I never cared for the way that the IQ's sidehilled or layed over. Yes, they are extremely easy to lay over and I loved that. They do have that in common. What the IQ's were missing for me was that "edge" that the edge chassis had when you did lay them over. The Pro's have that back, and the old 1st gen indy chassis did... I never chould get used to the IQ's. I always felt like I was sitting on top of a big round ball. Easy to roll when you wanted, but dificult to balance. The edge and Pro to me is more like sitting in a kitchen chair and tipping it up, and holding it on a balance point. There is a blaance point or edge to work from. They were/are great sleds and very capable, just never felt right to me.

i own a fully modded best suspension money can buy 2010 turbo 800 dragon and a 2012 pro rmk with stock suspension (properly set up) w/ pipe can clutching pcV. and there is no comparison between these two sleds. the pro is light years ahead of the iq chassis when it comes to controlled side hills, down hill decents, re-entries you name it the pro does it easier and faster. last year i spent a couple hours here and there on pros and thought as the above posts stated that they are alright but not that much better, once you spend legit time (2-3 solid days) you will change your statement. my turbo sled has 250+ hp and i have ridden it once this year because my pretty much stock pro is more fun and will go more places in tight trees and side hills, it wont point up hill and pick up speed like my turbo will but it will do everything else better

Great perspective. I want the PRO to be that much better so I can justify buying one!

Well said Kinzer....

I agree 100% However, I do agree with the original poster on this thread and (I could be wrong) but his intention was to show what a value the IQ chassis really are. They are alot of machine for what seems to be super cheap money right now...

Heck there is a 400 mile 09 800 in swap right now for 5500 asking price. Compare that to spending the 12k and the value really pops for you.

**BTW, Polaris REALLY nailed the 13's and it is going to be quite a sight to see what Skidoo has to come up with to top that!!

Well it certainly has not helped that this has been the most snowless winter I have ever seen in my life here. Heading west Next week so I'm sure I will feel the same way you do when I start riding in some real snow.
