Bought a 2014 Viper for the girlfriend Saturday already have 60 miles on it.

LOL, do the Japanese think we are all 300+ pound gorillas? The front skid shock came set up so stiff it made me scratch my head. Well, after about an hour or two of adjustments here is what we came out to for a person 150 to 160 pounds weight.

Front shocks = 65 pounds
Front skid shock set to center ( equal threads below and above lock rings)
Rear shock 120 pounds.

After this setup the Viper ran down a trail or road like my 2014 M8 and feel like it is on rails. Such a HUGE change from how it came set up. Really glad we bought the Viper. Best comparison I can make is Apex ride with short track Ski Doo XM ability in the powder. (after long track I expect it will be like my 2014 M8 and be similar to Polaris Pro in the powder) Sidehills second to none.

Had a long straight road to go down and it was truly funny to blast by the "other" mountain sleds struggling in the ruts. Both my 2014 M8 and the 2014 Viper screamed past in a flurry of snow!

Now to long track it and put the narrowed front end on. Could have waited for the Mountain Max but a little birdy told me that the 2015 Mountain Max would be a long track narrowed front arms Viper so why wait?

ANYBODY on the fence grab one of these.....

Why get tunnel extension? Viper comes with same length tunnel 2014 M8 153 comes with, I know this as both those selds sit side by side on my sled deck.

Didn't know if I needed it or not with the EZ Ryde. Better safe than sorry when I start the build. I hate finding out the hard way and yankin it waiting for parts and powder coat!:face-icon-small-coo

Here is a pic of the Viper with stock track sitting on my sled deck next to my 153 inch track 2014 M8. Sitting side by side the tunnel is exactly the same.

Have you ridden the Cat 1100T? Wondering how the handling characteristics compare to the Viper. I really like the Viper but if it feels anywhere close to as heavy as the 1100T it probably isn't the sled for me.

If you can't find a Viper to test ride, go ride a 2014 Cat. I have the Viper set up now where it feels just like the 2014 M8.

Looked at the Viper in the showroom today before I left and can't imagine a 153 fitting under there. Got any measurements? Or anybody try it?

Not sure if the Viper is the same length as the XF7000, but when I did a 153" swap on my XF7000 141" I had to swap out the tunnel extension for a Proclimb one.
The 141" tunnel section is 37.5" long while the 153" rear tunnel half is 42" long.
It's not to bad of a job to do, the 153" section even comes with all of the holes pre-drilled! You will also need a 153" bumper as well.
There are LOTS of rivets, so if you can come up with an air powered rivet gun that is the way to go.
There are 4 high strength rivets on each side where the drop brackets attach and also where the rear running board brace attaches to the running board edge, so you'll want to use the proper rivets at that location. For the rest of the rivets I just used stainless steel pop rivets.

I promise the pic of a 2014 Viper sitting next to a 2014 M8 153 in the above post is not photoshopped.....lol. Standing next to the truck they look the same length. Our 153 will be going on the Viper this week or next and I can find no reason to extend a tunnel that is the same length as the 2014 M8 153. I can see that the tunnel protectors must go but we don't run studs in our tracks anyways.

Could you please measure your tunnels like MTN_VIPER did? I measure my XTX and the tunnel extension is 37,5".

That photo doesn't really help for comparing tunnel length. Especially if one is only a couple inches shorter in the tunnel. And there is no way the Viper has a different tunnel length than an XF7000. So the viper tunnel will not be the same rear portion as an M8. Close but not quite. However you may still be able to stick a 153" skid in there and it will work maybe with the flap trimmed a bit?

My Hartman Inc 153 extension showed up today. I'll measure it for you AFTER it is on because it's going on!
