That Silencer looks sweet! Nice fit and finish.

Do you have a quieter one that would be legal in sound check areas like Colorado?

How does the backpressure compare to the stock silencer?

Looks nice! Do you know what the DB rating was with the HPS can on the 700 dragons? I had one and it was a little loud for my taste, just wanted to see how this compared.

I really wish HPS would make a website.

The forest service has trouble registaring db at wide oven throttle. In most areas they sniff at idle in the parking lot. With my other HPS cans there was no trouble at idle. Good bark and great bite on other applications versus most of the other companies that we tested.

I would like to hear the at idle db. Then what would really sell product is direct comparison same sled performance testing. At least from my perspective as a consumer I'd like to see the heads up match up to weigh the benefits of performance versus cost. Just like for my products the tell me only goes so far....the show me is what really sells.

On my own dime and totally independant of HPS we did pretty extensive data logging and timing trap test sessions with the HPS can on some iq 600 and 660 setups and found some significant benefits to the HPS can over the stock and other brands tested in the combos of pipes that we had available. Hopefully this application's results are just a positive.

In Colorado, FS and State Parks measure DB levels at 4,000 RPM's at 4 feet away from the sled. Good news is this is before most valves open up and produce more sound. I really would like the HPS can on my Pro but I'm nervous that the sound will be just over that level.

HPS CAN

Has any one run the HPS below 3000 ft, I was told that they do most of their testing around 4500 ft and up. just wondering as most of our snow parks start around 2000 ft with most of the riding around 4 to 6000 ft. I like the HPS can have used it on other sleds.

What I really want to know does this can with stock pipe produce more power than stock muffler? Or is it the same power? Does it produce less power?

I am very suspicious of cans and the manufactures claims.

I ran a HPS can with a SLP pipe..... on a D7 and it would only perform good when the sled was cooled down. (for one pull up a hill) By the time you made your second pull up the hill it was a real dog.

The SLP can with pipe worked great all day long.

Are they adhering to the test? I was under the impression that it was 4k rpms at 13 feet away <88 db's?

My turbo is right at 88-89 db's when tested as stated above.

Has anyone gone through the test this year?

As far as the HPS silencer - had one on my '07 RMK 660, good sounding and no power loss from what I could tell.

Are they adhearing to the test? That has been a question all year. The answer is kind of. State parks has said that they will test sleds that they think are in voilation. All stock sled pass and most with just can changes pass as well. I think that HPS is really close and might pass at 4,000 RPM's. I can't remember exactely how far away from the sled they are (obviously the sled is on a stand during the test).

So if they are standing 4 plus feet away, how do they know you are hitting 4k??? Seems like another Red Tape Debacle....

Probably the same way you do. Look at your tach.

...LOL! I mean are they operating the sled, and the noise gun? Seems to me that it would be diffucult to keep an eye on the tach and noise meter, while holding said noise meter and operating sled!

....or do they have you operate sled?

....just curious....

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the microphone will be on a tripod or mount of some sort. I believe you (the owner) take the sled up to 4k RPM's.
They stand and obvserve.

Then you get into the whole debate of can they test in the snopark where it may be on pavement or ice, or does there need to be snow on the ground which absorbs sound instead of reflecting.....they never could come up with a test procedure for Wa. too many variables to be able to test consistantly and accuratly. A common sense ear test seems to make more sense, we all know an obnoxiously loud sled when we hear it.

years ago we ran thru a test here...the meter was set up on a tripod 25 feet from the sled,(right on the snow trail ,about 50 ft from the parking lot) you pulled up to a guy and brought the rpms up to 4000, and he verified it,then the other guy read the meter...
i had an slp can on my edge and it passed easily...
