wondering when polaris and cat are planning on updating? this was one of the considerations i used when not buying a new sled this year, besides the money thing;) resale on the no di's has got to slide if the di sleds do what is promissed. double the gas mileage and waaaaayyyyyy less oil. who's gonna want a sled you have to watch the gas gauge all day when you can have one that unless your a trail rider you have no chance in running dry in a day or maybe 2! saving a ton of $40 a gallon oil is no small savings either. congrats on skidoo for being the first.

could we have another convert? or purely speculation at this point? :rolleyes:

myself - couple years for sure
thinkn about a 2010 right now and let everyone else R & D it for me

Nice to see, now just bump the power to about 185 or so and Ill try it...:beer;

The Evinrude E-tec and the DOO 600 have proven all the claims to be true. If you ride the powder and carry an extra 4 gallons of gas, you will save 4 X 6.35# = 25.4# + the weight of the gas can or approximately 28#. Since most of us pay at least $100/# to reduce sled weight, $280 + gas saved + oil saved is a big deal. How the weight reduction on the back of the sled relates to handling and HP is a good question but the e-tec 600 guys report better acceleration and improved low end torque.

only one problem.the e-tec fuel system is pretty much maxed stock..so no mods..no turbo...pipes.....reeds...heads..at least until someone figures out a new fuel system that either piggybacks on to it or competely replaces it....and..there is a good chance the manufacturer will have programming to defeat any add-ons as well........

The guides I know back in Mn that have run etecs hated them. Many engine failures. First thing that Evidrude did to help save the motors was to turn up the oilers to about 25:1!!! So much for the oil savings. This is one of those things that works great on paper. Not so great in the real workd with many hours of real useage on them. Hopefully some day they will get all the bugs out of them. Until then, I am happy with my carbs.
