with the "update" you only received extra coverage through the end of last season. because all of the updates should have been done in the fall of 2009 not 2010. Polaris still offered the update through 11/30/2010 but there was no extra reward for the guys that tried to wait until the last minute to update. Polaris has not granted any extra warranty to any of the sleds past last spring, with the exception of the "goodwill" clause they added this year for all 09/10 cfi 4 800's that have electrical issues they are taking care of most of them.
UBJECT:
2009-2010 600/700/800 CFI Regulator/Rectifier Goodwill Coverage
PURPOSE:
Polaris Industries is introducing this Service Advisory as a goodwill customer satisfaction campaign. This
Service Advisory has been issued to communicate a process which empowers dealers to manage a customer
relation issue without requiring pre-authorization from Polaris. Polaris reserves the right to expire this
Service Advisory prior to the published expiration date for any reason. This Service Advisory is
separate from, and does not alter or otherwise affect, the terms of any existing warranty.
Subject to early expiration by Polaris for any reason, this program provides goodwill parts and labor coverage
on regulator/rectifier failures through the earlier of 12 months beyond the original standard factory warranty
period or June 30, 2012, whichever comes first. This goodwill coverage does not apply beyond 24 months
from the registration date for all vehicles involved. This Service Advisory only applies on vehicles that
experience a regulator/rectifier failure outside of the original 12 month warranty period.
SERVICE ADVISORY DETAILS:
• The additional 12 months goodwill coverage only applies on vehicles that are beyond the standard
factory warranty period (with or without second year engine contract), and have accumulated less than
3,000 miles (4,828km).
• The snowmobile must be registered to the current owner. If a subsequent owner is requesting
coverage, the warranty must be transferred by the dealership prior to completing the work and
submitting the warranty claim. Work completed without transferring ownership will be charged back.
• This Service Advisory does not apply on vehicles that are within the standard factory warranty period.
If a regulator/rectifier fails during the standard warranty period, file a STANDARD (ST) warranty
claim. If a regulator/rectifier fails outside of the standard warranty period, file under this Service
Advisory using the claim instructions on pages 2 and 3 of this communication.
• The 12 month regulator/rectifier goodwill coverage will cover the cost to replace the ECU if the ECU
has been damaged by a faulty regulator/rectifier.
• When claiming this Service Advisory, customers (including international) must pay a $50 deductible
charge. Polaris will deduct the $50 deductible at the time of claim processing.
• The regulator/rectifier goodwill coverage program outlined within this Service Advisory begins October
28, 2010 and will expire 12 months beyond the unit’s original 12 month warranty period or on June 30,
2012 – whichever comes first. Polaris reserves the right to expire this Service Advisory prior to the
published expiration date for any reason. Failures that occurred prior October 28, 2010 are not covered.
• All failed part(s), including the RO, must be returned to Polaris for inspection and failure verification. A
copy of the repair order with the customer’s information, signature, repair work information, and vehicle
mileage, etc. must also be returned with the parts. Dealerships will be charged back if parts and repair
order are not received within 30 days of the claim date. Dealerships will be charged back for all nondefective part(s) returned to Polaris.
