That time of the year again...Motorado is taking in Sleds on consignment!!!

Starting October 1st Motorado will be taking in Sleds on Consignment. We are in the middle of reducing our Motorcycle inventory to make room so if you want to call and schedule a time to bring your sled down to sell, get while the getting is good, lots of folks already talking about the upcoming season, should be a good one. Some of the members on this forum have used our services in the past and its a great way to sell your snowmobile without the hassle, also an indoor showroom to display your machine, we have financing available for potential buyers. We will also have a booth at the Snow Show if you have any questions, drop by and say hi! We will also waive our 100.00 display fee for Snowest members for the month of October, make sure you mention it!

Nothing but positive words for the guys at Motorado! Keep doing something unique, love it

Hmm, that's not what I heard. I heard from two unrelated parties that the old "bait and switch" scheme was used: the website shows a nice sled for sale, but when you go there to look at it they tell you it's sold but they have another more expensive one that they'd be happy to sell you... Hmmm.... :tsk:

They sold my Nytro for me and I bought a 2007 Harley Street Glide from them a year later and I have no complaints, in fact I would use them again.

Have you been to our store, have you met us, have you done business with us, if you do you will find nice people that care our about our business and our customers? My wife and I started this business on our own dime 2.5 years ago to have an affordable way for folks to buy and sell. We do not bait and switch, if a customer comes in and we have sold something or it has a deposit and we suggest another unit for them to look at how in the world is that bait and switch, it sold before they arrived. If you want to call and speak to me personally I would be more than happy to discuss anything with you or come visit us and see for yourself a hardworking small business with great employees and great customers.
Thanks,
Ron

I'm very happy with the services that Motorado provided for me last year. I had them sell my '11 Pro and will probably be giving them a call to sell my '12 Pro as well.

That's not bait and switch. At all. I went in there last year, the sled I was interested in had sold, they showed me what they had - perfectly reasonable.

"Bait and switch" would be selling you THIS sled, then, once financing comes through/they have a deposit/you've signed something, an unethical salesperson might "switch."

The reason that auto lot ads have "Stock number XXXXXX" in the fine print at the bottom of the too-good-to-be-true car is to prevent bait and switch schemes - but ALL ads are just there to try to get you "in the door." Motorado lists CURRENT INVENTORY, not some mythical $4k ProRide. From what I've seen, Motorado churns through inventory pretty fast - the sled I went to look at was not on their website the day after I was there.

I should have called before heading to the store, my fault for not ensuring it was still there.

I dislike unethical dealers as much as the next guy, but I've not seen anything to suggest Motorado is one of them.

So, now we have three examples of your scenario - difference being, I did not feel as though I was "baited" or "switched." Someone bought the sled I was after, it disappeared from their website, good for them, good for new owner.

.02c/the other perspective.

I only hear awesome stuff about Motorado. Ron is one of the most honest hard working guys I've ever known. He might be slow on a race track but he's a good guy.....:)

Hmm, if you have no experience with Ron & crew, prob best to keep your opinions to yourself...you would speak in the quality of a corvette when you drive a Miata.

Bought my sled from Moto and couldn't be happier.

Mike

Hmm, well word on the street can make or break a new business. Just because you had a good experience doesn't mean that every other costumer has. I'm sure that any potential costumer would agree that they would like to hear the pros & cons of any business before they used their service..... :brick:

Yeah, exactly. That's why posting allegations of "bait and switch" with nothing but "my friends said" to substantiate is kinda irritating people. Small businesses are tough; crappy rumors can have a significant negative impact on a business run by fellow enthusiasts.

A sled comes in on consignment, sells, someone else comes in to look at it, but it is not there - what on earth are they SUPPOSED to do?

Your friends and I were dumba$$es for not calling before driving over. That's all.

ahhh whatever. Very glad I'm not in the powersports industry.

I've sold 3 sleds and a dirtbike with Ron at Moto-rado. Never any issues and always has been great too me. I'll be in touch with him to help me sell sleds in the future. Not having to deal with the idiots that call and email from craigslist has taken so much stress out of the selling picture it's unbelievable!

Thanks Ron for running an awesome business.

Half the sleds gone

If you were thinking about bringing down your sled to consign, half of our inventory has sold already, so the buying season is here and they are moving!! Give us a shout to make an appointment! Also, great seeing some of you guys at the snowmobile expo and we will be at the Sledfest next month, beer in hand....:face-icon-small-hap
Thanks,
Ron

When you are buying anything and see it online you should generally always call ahead to make sure it is still there. Websites typically only update once a day (midnight) and some only do it every couple days. That is dependent on a place actually marking an item sold as well. If someone calls and gives a deposit over the phone many times it is not taken off until the sale is complete.

Call ahead, problem solved.

First, you really do not even understand the concept of bit and switch cause... this ain't it.

They sell consigned used sleds (etc.). They have almost no control over the inventory, even planning a bait and switch would be difficult.

I assume your unrelated parties have computers... I would much rather hear from them, if in fact they were actually potential customers, than you, admittedly NOT a customer.

Mostly I just think it was a terrible thing to do in this thread, spreading negativity based on second hand knowledge. I do not see a SINGLE bad report from anyone who has actually used this service. YOU should think about that...

I wish it was closer, I would definately give them a try. Instead I will suffer through more craiglist BS...

I had a great experience selling a sled through MotoRado last winter. Everything from the initial phone conversation to them selling the unit was very smooth and they answered every question I had. This is definitely a business that we as snowmobilers need to support. The more and better inventory of snowmobiles to run through them, the more traffic and business they will get which benefits us as sellers and buyers more than anything. I'll absolutely be dealing with them again in the future.
