I just wanted to throw some props out to Dan down at Jet Chevrolet who hooked me up with this fine fine Silverlake slide out on Thursday. Great service and a great deck. Swing by if you are in the market for a deck or a trailer. Thanks a lot Dan! Loading her up tomorrow and heading out in search of the white rabbit, hope it pans out.

you may want to put a piece of plexiglass where the inboard ski might hit your window ,it can happen. sled decks are the way to go ,keeps the herring brine our dot uses from rotting our sleds

Thanks for plexiglass tip, sounds like a good idea. My first load was a wee bit clumsy, hit the headache rack. Glad that thing is there sure it'll come in handy.

sled decks

one situation that will take the fun out of a deck is loading on a ice covered parking lot or worse, a slight tilt like you pulled off the road. I use an old track hooked to the bottom of the ramp, this eliminates the need for speed and keeps you straight. Buying a cheap 50$ winch at harbor freight is cheap insurance if your sled dies or your approach angle is bad. When things go bad on a deck you are lucky if all you loose is a 200$ belt. Learned all this the hard way, but they are still way better than a trailer.

ramp traction.

Hey guys,
When I had my sled deck a few years back I would stick 2 short pieces of 4x4 under the bottom of the ramp. The ski's would still slide up on the ramp and the track would grab right away, it made it a lot better to load.

I use the cable-linked traction aid (referenced above) attached to the bottom of my deck and it helps tremendously. I prefer a controlled ascent into the back of my truck. :face-icon-small-ton
