have been keeping an eye on the boss seat resale prices. noticed they have come way down since ac has made thier own lightweight highrise!!! seems the bosses have come down to the $300 range used, where as a year ago you couldn't touch the worlds most expensive seat for under $500 used.

You're right on the money!

I was told by a dealer friend that the retail price of new Boss seats are going to $299 (or was it $399)? Either way, they are dropping their retail price but, what are they changing in their seats to do so?

Perhaps the pre 2010 Boss seats will become the ones everyone wants because they were built a little better than the 201o and subsequent year seats?

Then again, maybe nothing is changing in their manufacturing process of their seats and they just want to sell more seats at a lower profit?

Good post!

I doubt they changed anything, thats what the open market is for. Keep people honest. It prob doesn't cost $100 to make them once you have the setup, but with out the setup resources and knowledge you have to pay what ever they are asking.

i would highly doubt it costs more than 50 bucks to make a boss seat in mass quanities.

The foam is WAY more expensive than you think. That's the reason they're light. You gotta pay to play. There's far more than $50 of foam in them.

Yeah Boss still holds the critical pattents for the foam and construction of the best seat. Cats new seat is still heavy and will soak up water after a day of riding. It also has yet to prove to hold up year after year.

So while the price of used Boss seats has temporarly gone down in price, the new Boss seats will likely stay highly over priced!

I heard somewhere in order for Boss to keep up with the AC orders they went to a CNC machine to cut the foam were it used to be hand done.
