Thank gawd for my 8 year old and a quick fire department!

So the kids got done lighting there fireworks off last night around 10 pm. Wife and I sat out till 11 ish and the kids started picking up there fireworks and put them into the trash.

We went to bed and were awakened at 1:30 AM by my 8 year old daughters screams.......FIRE FIRE. HOLY Chit batman!!!You have no idea how fast you can roll outta bed when yah here that!! I had a 5th wheel camper parked next to shop and on the opposite side of it you could see the flames above the camper. It melted the aluminum soffit and was mere minutes from breaching into the rafters.

We live on a remote acerage and still had volunteer fire dept there in under 7 minutes! Kudos to those guys and this is one time my daughter didnt get in trouble for sneaking up to watch a movie..

That's a close call! Was the source of fire the garbage can? I never, EVER put that stuff in a can after using it. It stays out all night or gets tossed in a pail of water. Even if I use a propane torch or soldering gun, I set it on the concrete shop floor and put it away the next day.

Yes a garbage can. There were two cans sitting there and yah sure cant tell anymore. We usually let our fireworks sit until next day but we had people coming over to the house next morning so we didnt want it looking shabby. MY fault for having kids clean up. Sure could of been ALOT worse. We were lucky.

I can't believe your 8 year old said Holy **** Batman after yelling fire fire:face-icon-small-hap. But in all seriousness you were lucky glad it all turned out OK. Few years back we had an issue with fireworks as well.

Even before you told us that it was smoldering fireworks dumped in your garbage bin, I was thinking this could be the source.

I blew off some fireworks this season as well, and afterwards my 11 year old asked me if she should gather them all up and throw them away. I told her to leave them on the beach until morning. about two hours later, I walked down to the beach to make sure everything boat related was put away for the night, and there was one of the larger spent fireworks cartridges on fire in the sand.......... Even though it looked like there was nothing still buring or even hot, apparently there was........
