Tether

Just watched a good/bad video in WA riding areas...either the tether failed or there wasn't one.
I've done a search but didn't turn up anything.....

Is there a thread that explains a install that I can't seem to find?

For those of us that ride the mountains, it would seem to be a must...now that I think about it......It sure would save the sled from a nasty run out into a tree.

And Guidoxpress....this wouldn't help you :becky: ......you and trees are like salt & pepper :pound::biggrin1::pound:

The polaris one just plugs right into are sled. The plug is by all the wires going to the key I beleive.

I don't like the polaris one i'm taking mine out and putting one like a jet ski has.

Tethers are a absolute F-ING MUST...i almost lost my sled to a stuck throttle this weekend..but my tether saved it...BIG TIME..

i went up a steep climb...got bucked off, pulled back on the bars hard to tip the sled over..and ended up flipping the sled over at an angle...i held on strong from the side...then when it got back on the track..BAM...it started WFO throttle...and i ripped the tether out on my way down and it stopped...

i have the FBF cable..but when i rip on the bars sideways...i caught the cable somehow and pulled the sleeve from the metal crimp and away it went..it was a quick fix..but w/o the tether that baby would have been gone for good...

it plugs in the small harness thats attached to the key switch...there are 2 wires there, and 2 on the tether...doesnt matter what wire goes were...just make sure they have GOOD contact, and do not come out..had that happen to me as well..

and i will ONLY buy the Pro Amor tether...VERY nice quality...

this is the ONE YOU WANT...

A tether is definitely going to be the best money you ever spend on your sled..... it could save your sled, a buddies sled, or even a life depending on the circumstances.... but remember, it isn't going to do any good if you dont use it.... I dont so much as start my sled without the tether on.

Factory Polaris tether has worked fine for me both on my 800 and on my 900.... plugs right in to the factory wiring by the ignition.

I suggest that people check their tethers before every ride to ensure that it still works. Mine was a few years old and had corroded internally (I dissected it), such that you could unplug the tether and the motor kept on running. You want it to work when you need it, like others have indicated above.
