Tether issue

So I have been having some issues with my tether on my D8, I read that the polaris tether was plug and play so I plugged it in and it worked for a little while, but it would kill the motor with any little tug. I just unplugged it that day. Then the next weekend I started up the sled to let it warm up, it ran for about 3 minutes then just shut down, ripped on the pull cord a couple times, never would fire up. Removed the tether and it fired right up.

Was wondering what the issue could be?

Here are the connectors I have, do I just plug in the two connections or do I need to splice in something?

If you have meter to test continuity, connect it into the end of your wiring from the tether switch, plug in your tether cord, move your tether cord around slightly and see if it changes continuity. This will help troubleshoot if its your tether causing the problem.
For years now I've always screwed in a small round headed screw into the center of the tether cord portion that pushes down on the button of the switch. Only way it shuts down the engine is if I pull the cord off the switch.
