TESTING VOLTAGE REGULATOR

HELLO, I HAVE AN INTERMITEN SPARK PROBLEM WHEN SLED IS WARM. BOTH HEADLIGHTS HAVE BURNT OUT, BUT TAIL LIGHTS ARE WORKING. I FIGURE ITS MY REGULATOR. HOW CAN I TEST THE REGULATOR? DAVE

try taking your headlight switch on the bar apart and check for corrosion , i had an intermittent charging problem which i chased and the last thing was this unit and it was coroded inside

Lift rear of sled,fire it up, rev to 4000-5000 RPM's & check the voltage at the headlight, battery or any accesory wire. If it's over 16 volts it's a bad regulator.
