temps?

Hey guys (and gals)

A ton of great info on here - I appreciate everyone sharing their knowledge and experiences!!

My question is: How hot is too hot for the Cleanfire 800?

When in the soft stuff, mine stays in the 120's without fail. But while on the packed trail on the way to the fun stuff (even when running the scratchers) it will climb pretty quickly. I have been really cautious, and have shut it down when it reaches 160. The last thing I want to do is to fry my motor on a dang trail! I am sure that this sled has a "fail-safe" and would let me know when it is about to overheat, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Any input will be appreciated. Have a blast out there!!

I believe the dummy light comes on at 205 and your motor will start to retard around then too. I've had mine up to 180ish a few times and just pull over to pack the tunnel with some snow. :face-icon-small-coo

i'll look in my service manual but i think 205 rings a bell for light and 230 it goes into limp mode.

i was really suprised how much hotter these poo motors can run compared to my ski don'ts

i think there is a thread on here about adding a cooler in the back.

I'm surprised yours still heats up with the scratchers down. Mine doesn't budge off 125 when I have them down. You should consider adding a non ported snow flap. Maybe a coolant additive such as watter wetter as well.
