TCP AIR BOX??

Hey guys, just wondering some info on the tcp aluminum air box. I'm running the slp intake and really want to get rid of it so I can run my tree dog bumper. Anybody have any experience with this air box? How good is it? How does it hook up and what's the air flow like? Not much info on it. I know the fire n ice is a recommended unit, but I can't afford $350 bucks by the time it gets delivered. I have butt loads of venting on my sled. Let me know what you think..

I bet it will work fine.I have both and I would rather run that set up than a SLP I would put some prefiter mesh over the opening on the TCP when you install it.

Ohhhhh Cool, another airbox option. Anybody have a link to it. A google search came up Nil.

It just looks so simple.Like it would actually work well. It looks like you could really use some prefilter material over the opening. So what's the deal, it just points up at the exhaust pipe? Wouldn't that take in a lot of hot air??

I had this on my 900 when i bought it...it was on there since new in 2005 and the previous owner ran NOS, and said he never had an issue with using it.

i used it for a season and was great...i dont have a pic of it, but like Kreg said..i ran a bead of silicone around the hole and layed some screen over it...used it all last season and no issues..

i only sold it cause i waned the bumper and eventually the 09 front end..so i went with the FNI intake..you can try sending "Cracked Throttle" a PM, i sold it to him but he never used it for the same reason (09 front end)

the hole faces DOWN...and sucks air from the nose pan, and a-arm area...if you use it..get some vents in th fender and some in the NOSE pan on the inside..so it can breath and not be constricted to the nose pan in the front of the sled.

but i dont see why you couldnt run the 05-08 SKINZ bumper or the Treedog bumper AND the TCP intake...a little custom work and you'd be fine..

Sean you dork you traded Me the TCP intake for an RS delete kit remember ?

Macdawg I never intended to install the TCP intake I wanted it just to have a look! I have several ideas for intakes I've just never done anything with it. I thought i would make a good start for a turbo inlet with a little modification too!

If one of you guys are interested in it send me a PM I would let it go prety cheap! I could even make a prefilter you could bolt or rivit on .

think that intake should work fine with all the venting Guido recommended as well as an slp or two in the radiator delete plate wich is what I ran quite succesfully until I changed it.

I also have a tcp air box for sale if someone wants one I put a fire-n-ice on mine pm me if you want it.

Oh yeh..

well more of the story happened after that, lol..

i traded you mine, then had NO intake for 2 mths or so (since it was off season) as i was waiting to save for a FNI...ordered one finally from a website, and come to find out they were sold out...and couldnt get anymore (before Paul started making them again) so i had to scramble and get something to use since it was starting to snow..a local buddy here (same guy i got the FST hood from) had his old TCP intake so he hooked me up in the meantime and eventually i got the FNI intake USED from someone else, then sold the 2nd TCP i had, lol...was a HUGE PINA ;)

DOh! Its just been sitting there all this time too!And I had a polished fabcraft style intake in the same box off junk Oh well it will be good for turbo boost box if I ever decide to go that route.

What a great little topic! Seems like lots of guys have this airbox in their closet.:face-icon-small-sho Sounds like it might be worth a try. Thanks for the imput guys!!
