Taps broke on hood to latch it down??? AC has FIX KIT????

My taps on my hood broke, where the black straps conect to the hood. It was on my 09 M8, i talked to my dealer and AC is not warrenteing the hood anymore. Instead they have a kit that fixes them now it is a screw that they put on the inside of the hood and goes through the hood???? Anybody hear of this kit or have it done?? I am suppose to take mine in on Friday to get it fixed but am scared to do it cause my dealer has never done one yet Any info would be great thanks guys

The repair kit is a machined pin that is knurled on one end. The dealer will cut off the area where your tab broke off so it is flat. The instructions then tell them to drill a hole in the hood that is slightly smaller than the pin and drive the pin into the hole. The kit looks good and works well. Tell your dealer it is easy to do. I have done it myself when I worked for A.C.

Does it look funny cause it is not the same colour as the hood is??

I have seen the AC kit installed, not really impressed with the results. I dont feel AC did anything to really fix the problem!

I manufacture a kit that resolves the problem and is a permanent fix. They also look a lot better.

Grated its twice the cost, but I can assure you its the last time it will be a problem !

It does look off a bit because of the color difference, but when the strap is on it is all black.
