Tap Turbo Manifold Update

Also Known as The Jannetty manifold.

My goals and intentions were very clear from the begining to make a product that will stand up to the rigors of turbo snowmobiles, for TRAIL RIDING and Fit the market Price.

I hired a professional welder who makes turbo manifolds for Callaway Corvette Turbo systems, and consulted they're engineer, plus worked with Nascar header builders to come up with a recipie and a design.

I was then and still am very confident that we have a great product, with every new product comes growing pains.

I have recieved a couple manifolds back for inspection for cracking, after inspection the problem is directly linked to overheating of the manifold.

One of the good things about the Coating I use is, it will turn color based on operating temperature, or burn off if, severily overheated.

At 1200 it will remain shiny, at 1350 it gets dark and will hold its integrity, at 1600 - 1700 it will burn and flake off.

Remember Use2beDoo who ran his engine at 13.8:1 at 18 PSI boost and bashed my Manifold?

Well I got it back Yesterday and Guess What, the coating is burned right off the manifold, and it is cracked, Can you Say 1600+ EGT

Now as for the difference of opinion on power, I am also addressing this with a Free Update for my Customers Who are Sticking with me and not running to the internet and bashing me with out all the facts.

Again I need to make a few things clear,
Under normal circumstances this manifold is working well, in others where A/Fs are not right, Timing is not Right, Wrong Fuel is chosen, Restrictive Exhaust systems are in place, clutching is wrong, Proper ventalation is not present, there will be problems UNLESS I make these manifolds out of Inconel which would double the cost.

I don't think anyone wants to buy a manifold for 2000.00

The bottom line Is this, As a Customer of TurboAddictionParts, you can rest assured, I Stand Behind my products and will continue to develope and improve regardless of the bashing.

If you have any problems contact me directly and I will work toward a solution.

I take Real feedback seriously and will apply it to my product to constantly improve.

The performace update is being tested and I will report as soon as I can.

Sincerily; Ted Jannetty

Weather criticism is "real" or not, it is difficult to hear and even more difficult to apply it in a constructive way.
My hat is off to you.

Good luck in all you do.

Anyone have real world data on what the header temps are on a front mount turbo??

I would love to have access to mine and get an infarred gun and get some shots on it.

Ted, did you do this to get real world temps? I see that you are stating that this is for trail applications. I think that is an important thing. The mountain sleds see huge amounts of heat based on long pulls at full throttle. ( I know mine sure gets warm!)

I am surprised the people with turbo motors don't run egt's on each cylinder? I think there is a lot of information they offer, like hey look at the gauge, you are LEAN......

The guys who are not having problems are running Richer A/F to cool things down.

It is not Unusual to run 10.5:1 A/F to keep things cool on long pulls.

EGT is very important, 1250 is considered Safe max. above that you can expect to shorten exhaust valve life, and lots of failed headers which everyones already seen from the beginning.

Exhaust flow drops EGT alot but is not the total solution, A/F and timing play a huge roll.

Cars have what they call piston protection fuel adders based on time at full throttle, the longer you are at full throttle the richer it gets,

I have seen A/F start at 13.0:1 and after a few seconds 15-20 creep down to 9.0:1 in 30-60 seconds on my Chassis Dyno many times on long pulls.

There is also Cat overtemp Protection that does the same thing to keep the cats and exhaust from melting down.

You may ask what does that have to do with climbing mountains but trust me it is all the same, EGT Control!

As an Engine builder,Tuner, Speed shop owner and Drag Racer, I have a lot to offer the community and wish to share.

Ted
