Taking wrap of exhaust pipe.

08 xp.
Taking all the foam out.
Putting the skid plate on.
Took Aluminum and insulation off of pipe. Is this ok. There is a plastic/rubber block that supports the bottom side of the exhaust pipe. Will it melt?
Can someone please stop me before I do something bad!!!???
Thanks!

if you do make sure you get some vents to release the extra heat that will gather under the hood .
my suggestion is leave the wrap on the pipe . it allows for a more even running pipe temp which is important .
put a set of side vents in .
put a different can on , there usually smaller and radiat less heat and offer better air flow under the cab with the use of side vents .

either run the insulation, or cermic coat it.
pipe heat is very important for a properly running 2 stroke.

like rotax said, pipe temp is key, they run funky without enough heat in the pipe, i used a few coats of the black stove paint, its like 13 bucks a can where i get it and you can do a few coats, way cheaper, and does pretty darn good at helping keep heat in the pipe.

I really don't want to increase the Db levels with an after market can.
How much $$ to Ceramic coat the pipe? Who, in the Seattle area does it?

I really don't want to spend any cash either.

I should just put the insulation back on it.

I guess my muff pot will only slightly warm food this year again!!

just take the first part of or something, isnt the metal sectional?

you could cut a section out no problem, and the muff pot would work great.

Ceramic coating should be around $100-125. Do a google search and you should find a few options. The MuffPot clamp doesn't hold on a ridgid pipe very well though. You are probably better off just leaving the clamshell on and cutting a piece of the clamshell off directly under the MuffPot base plate and tucking the firberglass back. I am using a 1 1/2" holesaw to cut a hole then when I sell this sled the $35 HotPot will go with it it. It's a good sales incentive.

Performance Coatings in Auburn does the ceramic coating ... kinda spendy though. If all you want is a hot cooker, just trim some heat shield away towards the Y-pipe area of the pipe and mount the Muff Pot so it directly contacts the pipe ... it'll cook like a champ and won't cost you nuthin'. Quickdraws idea about using a hole saw for a clean install is a great idea.

Funny, just as I was opening this thread I thought to myself.....Self, why not drill a series of holes directly under the muff pot?? Great minds think alike!!!

Not me, I was referring to Quick and Rocky:o:beer;
