Tailgate locks

ANybody have ideas to lock the tailgate? My Superclamps were stolen while out riding from under my sled deck with the tailgate closed in Priest Lake, ID today. Been thinking a bit redneck and a chain from the trailer hitch to the beaver tail cross bars. On a 01 Dodge.

Pop lock. Cabelas sells them. I'm sure there are other options as well.

Here is a redneck idea - how about removing a bolt on the bedside of the tailgate (if there is one), install a small eye, then run a cable or chain from there back up through the deck and padlock that end somewhere on the deck.

Another redneck idea - instead of a chain, install a solid metal bar (like the drop down arm on a garage door opener, but run the bar from the eye & up through the deck, install padlock.

I'll second Pop & Lock. I have the Pop & Lock and my brother has a Bully from Radco and it doesn't work at all. Pretty easy to open the lock with a screwdriver. Pop & Lock works great for me, I tried to get past it and couldn't. You'll break the handle off the tailgate before you do.

Anyone ever have any freezing problems with the Pop & Lock?

I need a tailgate lock to prevent the same thing the original poster dealt with.

I use a internal electric tailgate lock. It is hooked to my command start/alarm door locks. Seems to work good, ive been using it for 6 years.

put them in the cab

Putting them in the cab for now, just don't want to move gear bags, tools, all the other semi-dirty stuff in the cab and back. My brother is welding up some aluminum which in conjunction with a locking trailer hitch pin will not allow the tailgate to open.
