tach problems

so i have a 98 rmk 700 and the tach is not reading right at a idle its at 3000 and the sled is not reving that high, so i am wondering what can cause the tach to read false

enterference from any thing . umm you have any one you can borrow a nouther tack from and se if its your tack maybe..

yea i tried another tach i had sitting here and it read the same but its still reading high and as for interference i actialy just rewired the sled as the previous owner had fun with the harness so i am kinda confused the only thing iam wondering is did the 700 use a newer style tach as the ones i have are from a older indy ones

Tach

I know ther are 2 pulse and 6 pulse Polaris tachs.

My wife's 550 fan uses the 2 pulse and the Liberty engines use 6 pulse.

Could the wrong tach be on the sled? Look on the back of the tach and I would bet there is a label. Maybe the local Polaris dealer could validate that you have the correct tach.

yea thats what i was wondering and yea the ones i have are for the older sleds and the newer ones are different as you said so i have a newer tach coming hopefully it works lol

You need a 6 pulse tach for that sled.
