tach issue 02 summit

at the end of last season my tach started being freeky if you ease into the throttle everything works great but if you grab a handfull and pin it the needle goes to 0 and will start working again when you let out of it. any ideas

actualy now that you mention that it didnt start doing that till after i put grip heaters back on the tach has worked fine for two years with grip heaters eliminated. and i run a single headlight on a mesh hood and that actualy went kinda wacky itself didnt notice that much dont ride at night very often

does it do it all the time or only when your hand warmers are on? Sounds like a short to me....do you also have a thumb warmer? If so, check the wiring for it since it is right there on the throttle and could be getting pinched when at WOT and when you let off stops pinching the wires.....

appreciate that sledneck i will let you know i was actualy going to try that by taking the one out of the wifes sled wich is a 00 also and try tjat but i think your correct on that not being the problem

yes does it everytime i pin the throttle but doesntdo it when i just ease into full throttle

disconnect the right handwarmer and thumber warmer connectors under the console and test it again...If it still does it than you have a different issue most likely related to the voltage regulator or lighting coil. If it goes away, than you have a short in either the thumb warmer wiring or the right hand warmer wiring. Plug one of them back in and see if the problem comes back or not until you isolate which one it is....
