Hey I got a 2004 king cat 900 with a speedwerx head Slp can and reeds. I rebuilt the motor last week in it. Put two brand new spi pistons in it. I ended up taking my engine out and cleaning everything under my hood. I put the motor back. With the new pistons, I went on my first ride (I mixed my fuel pretty rich) It ran fine for about a two miles. ThenWhen I would open her up she would cut out. So I pulled over switched my plugs and it was gone for about a hour of riding then it can back and started cutting out again. SO I switched my plugs again and it went fine for the rest of the day. also my Rpms didnt seem up to par. like 7200 Ish. Sometimes dropped down to 6950. But othertimes it tached 7400 like I wanted. It was really wierd. Any thoughts? :face-icon-small-con

Make sure your power valves are opening correctly. When you start the engine the power valve servo should cycle once. If it cycles three times it means something is not right and the servo will not open the valves when it should. I take the plastic cover off the servo so I can keep an eye on it and the cables.

Thanks for the imput I will be sure to check it when I get back home. Any other things on the valves I should worry about. I have never adjusted them so im kinda new to them. :face-icon-small-con

I would check the spark plug wires and caps. I periodically cut 1/2" off and screw them back in.

Also you said you mixed gas your gas rich. The addtional oil from assembly and extra oil in your gas could contribute to low rpm. I would check the simple things and ride it again with a normal fuel mixture before I got too excited.

Good luck.
