t nytro or t apex ?

boosted metal

I have owned 3 turbo yammahas. The rx1 and the apex. Looking at buying another tapex or t nytro. Anybody ride both sleds and have a preference? I dont have much experience w the t nytro, thanks

the apex will feel more at home because your used to that chassis. The nytro is a different animal....and more like a rev, xp feel to me. I like the nytro for more bottom and tree style riding. Both can side hill for a mile....so tough call:face-icon-small-win

I had a SCRX-1.

SCApex.

and now have the same SCApex and an MCX Nytro. The Nytro is a much better handling sled than the Apex. You would not beleive the difference. I may still unload my SCApex this next season, but after building it over 4yrs,and over 30k its a bit hard to part with....however I don't see me riding it again unless I wreck the Nytro....

i have had both and i feel more at home with the apex and i love the way m,y xp feels too, very close in chasis feel i think, i can jump from one to another and ride them both with ease. Maybe its just me but it feels like the apex makes more power or at least mine does i ran them both at equivellant boost and to me i think the apex makes more hp. probobaly not though as i never dynoed either of them just from the way they both climb. imo

I like both chassis's, even though I'm rebuilding my Apex, if I started all over again, I would probably build a Nytro to try something different. The Nytro's perform just as well as the apex's if not better (better control/traction climbing). I think it has a smoother, more controllable chassis and power. The Apex's power is more violent, impossible to tame without a proper suspension set up. I wouldn't hesitate to build either, both great sleds. For the apex I would go with either an Alpine or an Impulse kit. For the Nytro I would be torn between an MCX, Alpine or an Impulse kit. I like the clean look of the Alpine and MCX Nytro Mountain Mod seats. If pump gas and go maintenance free is what you want, MCX is your sled. Good luck :face-icon-small-ton

I have had both (2 nytro, -08 and -09 with MCX) and now I have apex with MCX, I love boondocking with it, it’s much easier to handle then my Nytro!! Apex has a smoother, more controllable chassis and power (my opinion) easier to side hill with.<O:p</O:p
In deep snow it’s a much better sled then Nytro. Both Nytro and the Apex need a better skid!<O:p</O:p

Do the apex's still have massive compression? Because my dad bought a brand new 07 apex and our first ride he let off the throttle and he thought he seized the engine! Do the apex's still do this or does the turbo take it away? I have the same question (tnytro, or tapex). Also, does the nytro do the compression thing to? Thanks

he must have had a bad sled for it to be that bad. The engine braking does take some time to get used to, but out of the 5 apexs, 1 nytro and 1 rx-1 none of my sleds were ever that bad.

Ya it must have been a monday sled or somethin. Because no joke if you let off the throttle you will go over the handlebars if your not ready. Do you have to do anything to the apex engines or the apex in general to prep it for a turbo? Im only 15 years old but im very interested in one for a project.

I love my T-Apex and the one time I rode a turbo Notro I thought it felt pretty awkward but I know it is simply because I had never ridden one before.

depends on how much boost you want to run?? lower to moderate boost should run a head shim, and higher boost should have pistons, rods and the works. lots of cheap tapex's out there right now.

im not sure how much boost i want to run yet? Im not sure where im gonna get the money in the first place lol. I was just interested. How much is low boost and how much is high? Because im starting to climb some big stuff and not sure how much is enough.

I think part of the answer lies in how big of a guy you are. Bigger guys seem to have no problems with the delta box chassis. I rode my Rx, which was very similar to yours, for 5 seasons till it got stolen, and I never thought I'd get rid of it. I replaced it with an MCX 240 Nytro. I can pull off moves that I just couldn't do on the Rx1 and I'm thinking its a combination of weight and balance. The Nytro IMO is a more evenly balanced sled not so nose heavy. That said it does not have near the jam my Rx had. I think I prefer the 4 cylinder motor over the 3 banger. My Nytro just doesn't have that arm ripping hit the Rx1 had and it doesn't sound near as cool. For me the Nytro is a better fit just because it doesn't really ever wear me out like the Rx1 used to maybe its because I don't have to hang on as hard. I doubt I'll go back to a Delta box sled but I may own a 4 cylinder in a Nytro chassis someday.

I haven't rode a nytro but came off a rev. I actually love the feel of the apex climbing it feels a Loy more stable than my rev was. As for boost numbers I am running 15psi from impulse and it is plenty for everything I can find to climb.

They are just two completely different sleds. Best thing is to ride both and see what fits you the best. Both will make more power then you will ever tap out if them, so it comes down to which chasis fits you the best.

Decided to build a buy a tapex. I loved my trx and even had flameout corrected.Did not like the heavy steering but the power made up for it. Thanks for the replies!!
