Hi guys. I'm sick of always Fking with the exhaust on my apex I just want to ride! i kept having the donuts blow out so I bought the copper ones. now Bellows are blowing out! Then I had holes in my 2 2-1 pipes welded them up. and cracking. weld that. etc.

Theres got to be a guy or somebody who makes a complete set for the apex? from the head to the turbo or atleast off the head to remove them stupid fking bellows. Or theres got to be a better design or something? I'm throwing money at the sled thats not actually helping it. It keeps happening.:frusty:

I know theres a guy/s that make exhaust kits for the nytro to get rid of the damn bellows and stuff. Is there anything for the apex? there has to be!. Thanks! :thumb:

You could look into a supercharger. They don't have the performance that a turbo does, but you don't have to deal with the exhaust issues.

In my opinion, superchargers are a more reliable boost system.

Thanks for the replies. I'll end up just putting back on another bellow. and Alpines setup seems to be from reading about ~700-1200$, so no thanks on that lol

And a super charger. well thats not for me. always in boost makes the sled very hard on fuel. I know because I ride with a surpercharged sled every now and then and the turbo is the way to go. Not to mention If i stay out of boost I could attain well over 200 kms to a tank. easy on fuel. Supercharger sadly Its pretty much maximum of like 80 km/s to a tank no matter what. so your always packing fuel for your trips which is more expensive days.

I was just hoping to find a replacement for the bellows but I see there isnt really one. You just got to deal with it I guess

Are the bellows cracked or rusted through? Same bellow every time? If cracked check for excessive play in the exhaust or even a broken/loose motor mount. I ran the RX1 header and copper donuts on 2 turboed Apexes and never had a problem. Heating and cooling cycles are hard on headers/bellows. Not running a little on the lean side are you? Chasing cracks with the welder will drive you nuts!! The metal will break beside the weld because the weld is stronger. PM Climbmax. :cheer2::rockon::pound:If he can't help you, you're screwed!

first bellow to have issues with. The bellows are slightly rusty sorta but do look like they are or were stainless steel?? I had the exhaust completely out pre-season and put the coppers in. pressure checked the bellows. and welded up the cracks in my 2 y pipes/manifolds. I made sure all was hopefully perfect for no issues this winter.

The bellow that blew was connected to the right Y pipe/header of which i noticed my allen head-screw actually backed out! so it came loose. So potenentially maybe track wacked it a bit. I do know my middle paddles have wacked the exhaust a bit. as they are worn on the middle row a lil on the tips.

And I contacted the sylvan lake guys. He said hes not making any more headers. He mainly did them for the nytro and none for the apex. Said if he had a apex there he could but custom make them but even then it sounded like he dont want to make any more. Even at that... thats just the manifolds. not the bellows. you still use the bellows

Don't know what else to tell you. Maybe it is the track? Hitting the bottom of the bellows and making the top flex. What track are you running? Maybe too loose?

I take it that you are running a rearmount turbo. If I remember right the Apex guys were running RX1 y-pipes because they held up better. I sold my bellows and pipes to someone years ago for that reason. I have another set off a parts sled that had 1500 miles on it that I would be willing to sell. You might try doing a search on this subject and see if you can still find some info on it.

Ken............

thanks for the replies. Sled does already have the Rx1 or the stainless steel headers. I had to weld them and if they were titanium i could not weld them. So I searched it all up and found that out.

The bellows are a ??? is there a difference between apex and rx1 bellows? I'd assume they are all the same but perhaps again. titanium bellows vs stainless?????

And the track hitting the exhaust. I know for sure it has been rubbing a bit. But it wore down the paddles pretty good now that its stopped lol. its a tight fit in there for sure And the track is pretty damn tight. Or atleast I'd say so , the track is a 174x2.5

The Rx1 and the Apex headers are fundamentally the same except the Rx1 version is a bit shorter by about an inch so they need to be lengthened. If you are looking for Rx1 headers you need them from an 03 or 04 vintage. In 2005 the last year for the Rx1 Yamaha went to Ti headers on the Rx1 but they were the short version so a real unique piece. Excell exhaust used to make a stainless thick wall Apex header. I have also heard although I haven't checked myself that you can buy the ss headers straight from yamaha now about for $500. As for the bellows, they are all the same even the Nytro so just pick up some spares off eBay or TY4stroke.

good to know. I got a used one off a buddy who well... through his many yamaha's lol has some spare bellows ha ha. So he saved me a good chunk of change and time. Bellows in and hopefully sled will run tomorrow.... and that weird what I thought knock like sound will go away I pray assuming it was indeed from the blown bellow as it was not there before :o

aside that. I'd hope riding the sled with a blown bellow shouldnt of hurt a cylinder right?

Mcx use to sell a nice heavy duty exhaust bellow, I ran them on my phazer.
