Synthetic oil breakin

Well I put in this freshly rebuilt engine a like an idiot ran synthetic right of the bat
Its been at least 20 hours run time
Now the 800 pulls over like a 440 and definitely is missing its low end torque

Would I be correct in replacing the rings and running a honer through the cylinders and trying again with mineral oil

just rehone..then run regular castrol 2 stoke for the first two tanks...breakin can be done on synthetic if its over 80 percent load for constant duration of a certain time period....which it would not be in your case i would think...but i do think just a rehone should work..??...but rings are cheap..

Alright good deal I was hoping for that

I think my flyweights may be a size or two too light also would that make it feel kind of gutless not as in bogging but spinning rpm's fine just no power or would this just be because of my low compression

Have you been working the motor or trying to baby it?
Have broke in several motors on synthetic oil. Just takes longer. Trick is, with any oil- work the snot out of it. My best luck is to over- clutch or turn the clickers down on a Ski-doo so the motor can't "buzz" and lean out. And then work the jesus out of it.
I did talk to an engineer at Royal purple regarding their racing oil I've been using for years regarding break-in on a new motor, he said he wouldn't recommend it. Better to go with mineral oil for break-in. I've done both many times. Mineral oil breaks in wayyyy faster! The main thing is, WORK IT !!!!!!!!

well what is your compression..??..put gauge in plug hole...pull throttle wide open....pull over 3/4 times...that is your first thing to eliminate if its suspect..

Ah it's all tore into now but I know the compression felt like I was pulling over a 440
It definitely got worked because I did the rebuild out in Colorado and rode quite a bit out there
Then back in Minnesota and Michigan until it found a tree
Finally decided to piece it back together

I guess I might as well Rehone and run mineral oil ... I'm not running the oil pump anymore so it'll be pretty simple to switch oils

Then I'll just idle til warm let cool and then ride it the way I want it to move

Were you comparing the pull from Minnesota to Colorado, about 8k-11k feet difference in elevation, the motor will not be as strong in Colorado because of the elevation.

No I lost the crank bearing while I was living out there so I found a rebuilt 800 engine tht already had the big bearing kit

Before the fresh engine the skis would come off the ground no problem when already going a least 20 or 30 but afterwards I could hardly get them to even from a dead stop at first I figured it'll get better that a synthetic break in cant be THAT different

This was all out in Colorado in the Avon area
I changed jets and clutch weights when I came back to he
Midwest
