Any one riding an SX in the steep and deep? Is there enough track? I know the ST would be better in the deep and dry ,,but will an SX work at all , or would I just be unhappy and stuck? Im sure I will like the trail manners better?and will the new piviting front arm help in the trail manners and get me close to the sx handeling wise,,I know it wont go through the bumps the same.

The strut rod is at much more of an angle and needs the removal of the air-box or cutting it up to make room for the upper shock as well , on my WR 450 I just removed it. There may be the need to build some snow deflectors and stuff that is not needed with the Standard kit.

I got my bike working awesome and love my setup , but there are many hrs of fu283764ing with it. Not as straight forward as the St. Kit .

For deep snow I did stretch mine out to 136 by almost 11 inches and it works awesome+ about the same as a standard kit but not as good as a LT It takes the hits way better and with the narrow Hawk track it handles more like a bike and carves and turns awesome.

I love what I got but if I had to do it again I would probably go with the St. Kit no f#*&^%(*ing with stuff just bolt on and ride.

st kit

Have the st kit on a 530 ktm. works great in the mountains. sometimes more would work better but this works great

After riding an SX on set up spring snow and feeling how great it was jumping through the trees I want one.

The bad thing is Allen can not build me one for my 570 Berg and can not do one in the LT.

I guess I will need two bikes, winter and spring.

Well Im keeping the berg with the ST but was wanting a SX,,,, but want to use it all season not just when it gets hard? wondering is there a snow depth that it just wont work,,Havent found that yet with the ST, but was told theres alot more track speed with the SX,,,, so Just maby???

I got a chance to ride the SX kit on a KTM 450 for a bit. After spending 2 seasons on the ST I can say the SX feels a lot "washier" than the planted ST. Steve at Penco said that once you get used to it, it's awesome... but I didn't have enough seat time to find out if that is true. The side hills seem harder to hold a straight line on but I guess the trade-off is a more responsive rear end. I think if they would slap a standard LT track under the SX kit it might be something special, but I'm not sold on the SX as of right now.

Corrie at Brewster West runs an SX kit on his 450 SXF but I didn't ride it so can't comment.

The fun factor is definitely way up with the responsive rear end on the Sx much more like a bike.

With the narrow track I can sidehill easier than even the stock kit - Rush you are just note used to such a lively fun playbike:face-icon-small-hap
More of a big comply couch kind of guy eh:D

But yours is a long track!

I think the SX concept is where it's at.... I just don't think the track under it does the kit much justice in the steep and deep. Throw a LT under there with a deep lug and I bet the SX is a beast.

So is yours a 136 snow hawk track also or did you have tracks usa cut one down for you ?is it still cut rounded?

I cut the track myself and rounded it like the hawk track.

Everything has some pros and cons I like the bike for that it is a bike ( not a snowmobile) and try to make it handle like a bike while retaining the best performance possible in the deep snow.

At this point my set up works perfect on the track trail and has the same performance in deep snow as the ST kit . The Perfect all around snow bike to me has to be able to do it all no excuses. This one is very close.

who no long track sx them

is there a reason we cant get a sx in a long track then? im thinking i would like the long track but want what is going to jump the best. I felt like i would really bottom out the kx st that i rode some this winter.

Just the LT rails and a 136" track is all you need.

I bottom the suspension out ( can see it on the rubbers -- it is the big whoops on the trail in and out) but never feel a thing as it goes seamlessly into the 3 shock and I never bottomed out that one.

136" Hawk track

After putting on over 1000 miles on the SX kit in stock trim I must say that the SX kit in the deep early snow does not get around like the '13 ST kit (close to the 121 earler kits) but on the trail in the bumps it is far superior.
The new Z-Axis front arm will help the ST kit in '14 on the trail along with 200# rear shock spring and revalving of the rear shock.
I am cutting down a (10.5") 136 Hawk track and will install on the SX for early season.
I plan on using rail extenders (modified) so the change over back to the 121 will be easer.
Also will be doing some revalving and using a 185# rear spring.

From what I have seen, the 120" ST kit is the best all around kit overall but already having (and liking) a SX kit my plan is to mod, so it will work early season. It rails once the snow sets up some.

Thats what I was thinking that the new front arm will help,as much as I hate riding the trails, its a necessity, and any thing I can do to make it easier will help! Although this years ski was a huge step foward with the new wear bar installed, so I was looking at a used SX kit but I think I am just going to snow check a ST kit and go on with my life!

Any chance that TS will offer a wide version SX kit from the factory, maybe even one with a LT?
